В 2021 году, однако, по результатам слоновски представлений, это была арка из галактик длиной в 3,3 млрд световых лет. Но и это ещё не всё. Недавно была обнаружена ещё одна необычная структура: гигантское кольцо из галактик диаметром в 1,3 млрд световых лет, находящееся в 99,2 млрд световых лет от нас. Вот так эти структуры выглядят по отношению друг к другу, если смотреть с Земли. В целом, они находятся относительно недалеко друг от друга.

Аспирантка, участвовавшая в открытиях, сообщила, что достоверность открытия находится на статистически значимом уровне. Открыть эти структуры получилось при помощи анализа поглощения света от квазаров, галактиками, входящими в их состав. Так получилось построить трёхмерную карту этого участка неба и обнаружить в нём эти гигантские объекты.
