Changing Leopard Background Color
Hey guys, this Mac has 10.1, and as many of you probably noticed from past videos, I have this blue leopard background.
So, there's two ways you can get this: you can either download it from the internet, or you make it in Photoshop. And if you make it in Photoshop, you can have it in any color you want.
First, I'm going to show you how to find the leopard background on your computer. Go to Macintosh HD, then go into System Library. Now you're going to go to Core Services. It's easy to know because it has the one, it's one of the icons over it, and you're going to want to find the "vault desktop.jpg." It's right here. I set mine to blue, but yours is going to be purple.
I made a copy of the original purple one in my pictures folder right there. So, I'm going to be messing with the purple one since that's what you're probably going to be messing with. I'm going to open that with Photoshop CS3. This works in previous versions of Photoshop, and I'm pretty sure Photoshop CS4 too.
Now, to get rid of all the color in that, you want to go to Image > Adjustments, but let me zoom in there for you: Image > Adjustments and then Desaturate. Hold on, or you can just press Apple + Shift + U. So that's going to get rid of all the color.
Now, you're going to go to Image > Adjustments > Hue and Saturation, right there, Apple + U. Okay, hold on. So, first off, you're going to make sure Colorize is checked. Okay, so now here is the color.
I'm going to be making, already seen the blue one, let's make it red. So right now you see this is a dull shade of red, and this blue isn't quite the blue that you see on my background. As you can see, there are these other two switches. This is the brightness and how much it's affected.
So let's bring it around there. This is the brightness, so we can make it completely dark or completely light. This is like how much red you want to put in there. So you want to put like a lot of red, make it a little brighter than that, something like that.
I also liked it in green; green's probably my second favorite. Also, you can get it to a different shade of purple. I think that looks pretty cool.
So, there we go. You can just mess around with that. If I were you, I would just mess with backgrounds and stuff too because if you mess with actual pictures, it doesn't turn out that great.
So, it's just like with cool effects and stuff like that. There we go, that's how you make a cool leopard background, I guess.
