YouTube Error June 1, 10:22 Est, 2009

Hey guys, this is Matt Kids.

It's about 10:21 Eastern Time, um, April 1st. Sorry, it's June 1st. When you refresh the page on youtube.com—their main page, just youtube.com—it's a totally blank screen. There's no source code, and it's a totally blank screen. You can go to anyone's channel, but their index page must have messed up some piece of PHP code. Now, they're having interpretation or um, runtime errors. So, their website is totally blank right now as I make this video. It's um, June 1st, 10:21 Eastern Time.

I can't believe that YouTube's actually having a problem because normally smaller sites have problems. And YouTube tests it out before they put it on their main web server. I cannot believe that this is happening. But I wonder how long YouTube's actually going to be— their index page is actually going to be having a problem. I mean, I'm sure there's someone at Google panicking, working on this right now because right now about a thousand people have probably gone to youtube.com, seeing it's blank, and freaked out.

But YouTube is having scheduled maintenance tonight, so hopefully it won't be for too long. So, you can go to anyone's channel. Here's an example: as you can see, they are performing site maintenance. Um, so you can't check any of your messages. The message thing is actually broken. So, a lot of things are broken right now. Videos seem to work fine, but that's no big surprise since that actually relies on Google Video.

But this is their biggest maintenance thing I've ever seen. They're totally down. It's been more than five minutes now that youtube.com doesn't work at all. And I'm just proud that I got to make a video about this right now. So, this unbelievable, youtube.com isn't working right now. I wonder if I'll be able to upload a YouTube video. Probably not, but um, I'll give it a shot.

So, thanks for watching Matt Kids, check out this new glitch on YouTube, and goodbye.
