BMW OPEN 2024➡️ Самый холодный турнир АТР TOUR ?
Hello viewers and subscribers of the Sorokin Tennis channel. In this video, we will review the ATP250 tournament in Munich. Let's try to tell you all in order what we saw here at this tournament. Go.
Enjoyed the Munich weather. The first thing I want to say is that it will go in an ornate thread. It’s like this verse, why is it so cold? Why is it so cold? This is incredibly cold. I'll come back to this later, but I'll start with the first one. From the base where we were, where the games are played, the tournament is held. One central court, a fairly small court, even compared to the tournament we reviewed at Barcelona, Savadel Open. The center court is small. There are also two of their courts. This is the first and second with such small stands.
On the first court, there are small stands, but on both sides. On the second, it is a court with just a one-sided stand. On the other hand, you can come in, stand right at court level, and look at the players. On the one hand, it’s a minus; on the other hand, it’s a big plus because, roughly speaking, we watched the same Alicia Nijera’s game with Daniel, and there was such an effect of presence that you were very close. Even in the stands of large stadiums, there is practically no such thing that you are standing two meters from the player, and the game and the level of play really feel very good.
From what was special about the organization of the courts, there were VIP zones, but not VIP zones, there were separate cafes from which you could look at the first and second courts from above. The training court is very coolly made, I think. It is made under a cafe, in one line, and people who sit in the cafe can look directly at the player, and it’s close enough, like on this small court number two, which I described. And I can look at the training players who like their idols there, being directly close to them. The training court is very conveniently made. We watched Zverev’s training, the same Alicia Magera, how he warmed up.
The training court, I think, is very convenient. One of the huge disadvantages of this tournament, again, I repeat, is the weather. I will probably talk about this a lot in this video. The weather is incredible; I don’t know how people will play in this weather, but they will probably play if the court is dry. They are obliged to play because I don’t know the cold restrictions for the temperatures to stop, which is too cold.
How uncomfortable is it to play at plus three degrees? It's raining almost with snow. Now let’s go onto the court. In my opinion, the game is going on, but I can’t imagine such conditions. Stuttgers is holding a tournament at the same time and is playing in the hall; that is, they know about the weather not in the center of Germany, but closer to the north that she is in Atrel. It is not clear how to hold this tournament on the street at this time of year in Germany. Cold.
On the territory of the entire complex, there is one closed restaurant; that is, if it starts to rain, people run in there. There is not even a place to sit; that is, in principle, people just run in to warm up, and there is nowhere to warm up. The rest of the cafes are simply under awnings, under tents. Yes, you can buy something there, but it’s absolutely uncomfortable to stand there in such weather, and it was, I don’t know, not thought out.
Yes, there is a VIP area, but again there is a limited number of people who can sit there. Of the food that was in these same food courts, even in the open ones, these were some pieces of pizza, about 8-10 euros per slice, and curry wurts, the famous German one. This is just a sausage with bread, also cost from 6 to 10 euros. I didn’t try any other drinks, but mulled wine was very popular. It was 5 euros per glass, plus or minus you can drink it.
Our tickets cost 120 euros, one. We will show the view from where we looked; the seats were not bad. Again, from the experience that was, yes, there were no daytime or nighttime networks here. We just had a ticket for the central quarter, and this ticket gave access to the entire territory of the club. From experience, which can be useful for the viewer, for those who want to sit in the tournament, but in addition to dressing warmly there, here we have a grandstand.
Yes, it is closed by a tower; part of the view is closed. When buying tickets on some sites, it is indicated that ours is closed tower, some do not. It was not indicated on this site. For example, the ist tribune is much nicer; that is, there are no towers there, and there are none better. Nord, as usual, is north; this is VIP. You should also probably get used to the fact that this is the same at almost all tournaments.
The south stand is behind; this is information that may be interesting for those who want to sit in this tournament. Dress very warmly if you are thinking of going to the tournament. You will have everything to expect and take winter clothes with you, umbrellas, thermal underwear, extra cold. Also, on the stands above ours, above West, there was something like tents, something that reminded me of the VIP ultra at some stadiums.
I don’t remember; in the Donbass Arena, in my opinion, there was something like that where you can sit. As it were, in the tent from above, like a completely enclosed area, and again you are looking at the central court. I didn’t go there, but I saw that people were going up behind our podium. Probably these were some of the most prestigious places, and a tent makes a difference in this weather. If you are at least, perhaps, limited from the wind that blows, and being inside, this was a huge plus, especially if they served some hot wine or just tea.
It was a shock for the audience. I’ve never seen anything like this. People simply dress as they probably do at a ski resort; these are winter hats, these are gloves, these are hats, these are completely winter boots. I was not prepared for this, although I partially watched the weather forecast. I could not believe that it could be so cold in April and especially that people could play in such weather. At home, it’s strong; at a temperature of plus three, I don’t know what to pour here so that people can sit through it.
Regarding the cafes that were just open, yes, I already said that there was only one closed cafe, and it was impossible to warm up. This also caused great inconvenience since around the territory of the tennis center itself, there is no cafe nearby. According to Google map, the nearest cafe is 4-5 kilometers. Just to go somewhere to warm up from the cold. The problem with parking, yes, that is, if you parked the car, firstly, this is difficult.
We will now return to the parking lot, park where we parked the car because there had to be a pre-booking of a parking space on the territory. We didn’t do this because we didn’t know this, but if you were already lucky enough to have a car, you were lucky. We were met; we then leave, and you lose this place, and you park there, who knows where. People tell me that they walked for 15 minutes, those who were with us, who also parked far away.
For example, we parked the car, yes, in this cafe, which is packed during freezing rain. We can’t fall, and that’s where we should go. We need to stand on the street. Yes, that is, we just walked there for about a kilometer to the nearest McDonald’s. Probably not a super food court of some kind to eat for pleasure, but, nevertheless, there is no other way out. You just go to warm up, sit, drink tea, cocoa, at least something, hide.
This is also from such experience. Now regarding parking, the parking itself, that is, I don’t know, I don’t remember exactly this expression, but there is an expression that everything starts from the entrance. When you enter a restaurant, a cafe, or the entrance shows a lot. What this parking lot showed me, I don’t know; I just don’t understand. Well, it’s like being in a field. You just arrived. Again, there are people who, yes, dress like they’re going to a performance.
They dress smartly for tennis; there, beautiful. We were just laughing yesterday. I said, for example, a man was wearing white pants or some white shops. Well, how will he get through this parking lot? We'll put this in the video; this is out. It’s just out. Sometimes I didn’t make some rubber structures there, like, well, not to knead the clay at all, but overall it’s out.
Regarding stores and paraphernalia, there was my least favorite color. They have such an official one, this navy blue. I don’t know, it’s so popular in Germany. Many clubs even include this color in their club colors. I just don’t like this color. Buy no paraphernalia I didn’t want to. Regarding the price, it’s about 50-60 euros for some kind of ordinary T-shirt and 90-100 euros for a button-up blouse with or without a hood, depending on it, 90 without, 100 with.
The towel wasn’t even in the paraphernalia. They said it was over, but I, in my opinion, asked at three o’clock in the afternoon. It was not the end of the day, and it was neither the semi-final nor the final; that is, it ended. I don’t know how long there were them. I didn’t like the attributes at all. Also, on the territory, there was such a cool, I don’t know how such a tent, like an attraction. I played there; you could gain three points, like knocking down jars with a ball, throwing something like, I don’t know, like an anti-stress, almost basketball, into a hoop and hit the floor with the drum and hit the wall of a glass into such a large, liter beer mug.
I tried to pass it, but it took me a long time to throw a basketball, but it was fun, and I could have fun. Something so distracting from what I remember. Tennis players were also shown who passed it in a good time; in Zveta, in my opinion, they passed it completely in 49 seconds, something like that. Tim once took this test too. It was just interesting to try, but some person lost the record of 11 seconds, and he is not such a famous tennis player. Apparently, his name was not written there.
We looked at the players. I honestly couldn’t imagine players who would play without a thermal mobile; that is, I imagined that it would be a completely thermal mobile underneath, and a tennis uniform would be worn on top. We saw Fritz or Fitz; I don't know if someone is offended that I can't remember his name, but I don't get too hung up on it. We saw Rune, we saw Alisi Mager, we saw Struff and Vander. I don’t know; they’re also Dutch; I can’t pronounce his last name. They played.
What surprised me was that, let’s say, even this was not a thermal mobile. In my opinion, only Struff played in a thermal mobile from top to, again, I don’t know, a thermal mobile, just a long drain and a T-shirt. At a temperature of 3 degrees, that is, Rune played the entire second set in the rain. That is, I didn’t see any whining, stomping, show, slippery court, or such disgusting weather.
There was a strong difference in class; I don’t remember the last name. Rune played against the Colombian, and Fitz played against the Spaniard, the 240th qualifier in the world. That is, again, yes, the weather conditions were not great, but the difference in class did not go away. That is, these players were stronger, and they also took advantage of the same disadvantages of the weather more strongly.
As soon as it started to rain in the second set, Rune made a 4-0 spurt. That is, yes, the level drops, but the level of the player, who, roughly speaking, is in the top hundreds and top tens, it also varies when the weather drops and even more. That is, the reaction of the Colombian himself to the beginning of the rain was that he lost 4 games in a row in the second set.
I liked the serves, yes, that at the level of such players where Rune and Fritz played, there was always a difference when it reached a certain point. They understood that now there could be a breakpoint or some kind of return; it was just an ace, an ace, two aces, or just a powerful first serve, and it ended with the second strike finishing the game.
I liked Rune’s form, yes, Nike again made something good. That is, again, Nadal played in more or less acceptable Rune form; he played beautifully in sufficient form. What showed me, yes, that there are no such restrictions with temperature. Yes, that is, the players go out to play, and they are at work; these are professional athletes; they must do their job under any conditions.
Although the conditions, I repeat, are simply hellish. It seems to me, for the players who play this tournament. But, nevertheless, there is no swearing here. There is a huge question, yes, how is this acceptable with the ATP organization and huge, probably, complaints about this. How comfortable is it for the audience to watch it?
I called a person half an hour ago; he told me that the weather here is like this every year, and every year there are such reviews from this tournament. For example, the women's tournament that is currently taking place in Stuttgart, yes, that is, the clay season begins, and Germany wants to hold a tournament that precedes the clay season. For example, the same Stuttgart is held in the hall. I think this is much more convenient because, yes, the ground, the ground, good quality, yes, indoor; that is, you won’t feel the wind.
But at least for the same viewers, for all the infrastructure, it's much more convenient. There was a cylinder at the back behind the courts, but I doubt it's the size of the cylinder that can accommodate some kind of stands. It is used as a spare so that someone can play in the rain. There is simply no light on the courts, and yesterday the match that Alisim Mager played, according to the plan, it was supposed to be, in my opinion, the fourth or third on the center court.
They already understood that they would not play Alisim Mager together, and they were scattered in different directions because even on the courts there is simply no light. That is, this organization, I don’t understand, but I think it’s just money, that BMW has enough funds. They need a tournament in Munich; they have been holding it for so many years, and someone turns a blind eye to it.
In my opinion, this is quite inconvenient both for the spectators who watch this tournament and for the players who play this tournament. My advice to fans who want to attend this tournament is to dress, dress in such a way that it even looks like you’re going to a ski resort. Take a ski hat, take gloves, take thermal underwear under your pants, take underpants with fleece inside.
I don’t know, socks, some kind of knee-length leggings, wool, the warmest boots. Just get dressed; well, they probably won’t allow us to bring a thermos because they check there to make sure nothing is thrown at the players, but just to keep them warm. This is what I would like to advise people who choose to watch this tournament.
All this was my opinion about what I saw in Munich. I won’t come here again; I probably won’t come to any place where I’ve already watched the tournament, but specifically here, it’s very uncomfortable because of the weather. Even this video that I’m recording, I don’t know how many times I was already putting on my jacket and taking it off to shoot a new take; it was very uncomfortable even to walk to see Munich.
Stupidly, very, very cold. Write your opinion about our review, maybe some of your wishes, which tournament you would like us to review, which tournament we reviewed in the future. Subscribe to the channel and don't waste on the court. Bye everyone.
It's moments like these that make life worth living. With this, I say goodbye to you. Until next time. Bye.
