Невооруженным глазом в безлунную ночь человек с зажигалкой на этом расстоянии виден вот так. Вот таким образом в очках ночного видения. А вот так в объективе инфракрасной камеры.

Вот так виден человек, который листает что-то в телефоне. То есть, совсем никак в очках ночного видения он едва различим. Если вооружиться инфракрасной камерой, всё как на ладони.

У тепловой визуализации есть свои недостатки. Цифровая система с задержками, как при активной подсветке. Ночные тепловизоры не очень популярны.

Хорошие инфракрасные камеры большие и энергозатратные. Портативными их не сделать, поскольку они фокусируют только тепловое излучение. В них много чего не видно. Например, буквы на знаках.

Вот табличка в инфракрасном спектре: F P t o Z L P D. Всё, что видно, только за счёт отражения световых волн, инфракрасным камерам недоступно.
