Escape Opportunity | No Man Left Behind

We pulled off on the side of the road. Car stopped, but the engine was still running. D gets out of the car. Bonitas gets out of the car. "You okay?" They're trying to decide whether they want to shoot us in the car or out of the car. I got to kill us. I'm listening to all this, and I'm actually staring at the accelerator, thinking if I could just hit that accelerator, that's going to put some distance between me and the danger.

I'm thinking if I was going to be killed, I wasn't going to be killed sitting in the backseat of a car. I was going to make him work for it. I finally am able to get out of the car, and then all of a sudden, I see Bonitas. I just started running. The round enters my right shoulder and exits on the top of the shoulder. I knew when I started running that there wasn't anything I could do to help Charlie.

DY's shot hit my right, but no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no. Bonitas, he's standing there with the gun at my head, the hammer cocked. He pulls the trigger, and at that moment, I realized that was my opportunity.
