Here’s EXACTLY how much I made from YouTube in 2018 (Not Clickbait)

·Nov 7, 2024

What's up, you guys? It's Graham here. So I'll just get right into it. A month ago, I posted a video showing how much I made from a 1.4 million view viral video, which if you haven't seen that video yet, make sure to go and check that out so you can go and smash that like button.

But after I posted that video, I kind of thought to myself, you know, how can I one-up this? How can they do even better than this video? So I figured, you know what? Without further ado, let me share with you guys exactly how much I made from YouTube during the entire year of 2018 because why not?

Now, when I started posting YouTube videos about two years ago, no one would share their income breakdown like I'm about to share with you guys, and the entire topic was pretty much a mystery. Like, I'd see people claiming that they were broke and don't make any money from YouTube, but meanwhile, they just bought a brand-new G-Wagen and dressed head-to-toe in Gucci, and it just doesn't add up.

So this video is dedicated to anyone out there just curious how much a part-time YouTuber like me can make in a year. Or maybe you're just someone who wants to start their own channel to buy a Lamborghini. Whatever the reason is, here you go! Here's how much money I make, and all I ask in return, if you appreciate all the transparency I'm about to show you guys, is that you just smash that like button if you haven't already. It's super easy to do; just hit it. It takes a fraction of a second, and let's get into the video.

Now, for anyone who's brand new to my channel and who hasn't seen my other videos, I do YouTube for fun part-time. My full-time gig here in Los Angeles is working as a real estate agent and real estate investor, and that's something I've been doing for the last 10 years. YouTube is something I've started really about two years ago for fun. It's really just a side hobby that now I just have fallen in love with, and I love making YouTube videos.

I pretty much started this channel in the beginning of January of 2017. So as you can see here, on January 9th, 2017, I had a whopping nine subscribers. Then by the end of 2017, I had nearly ninety-four thousand subscribers and 3.35 million channel views. And then by September 4th, 2018, just about eight months later, I hit 200,000 subscribers. Now just three and a half months after that, we're closing in at almost three hundred thousand subscribers.

So I definitely noticed there's very much a snowball effect that comes to YouTube, that the more subscribers you have, the more subscribers you get. So that's just going to give you guys a little bit of context to show you guys the growth that I've experienced because the money I'm making now from YouTube is just significantly more than what I was making just a year ago.

So when it comes down to the income I'm about to show you and exactly what's involved in making money from YouTube, it's really broken down into five categories. Now, the first is YouTube ad revenue, and this is what I get paid every single time an ad is played on one of my videos. This is paid out on a monthly basis from Google AdSense.

The second source of income is from the program that I created called the Real Estate Agent Academy. Now, this is a program that consists of over a hundred videos teaching people how they can earn a six-figure career working as a real estate agent. Now, this is something I don't really promote too much, but if you click the show more in the description of any of my videos, you're gonna see it there.

Now, my third source of revenue comes from speaking engagements, where people will pay me to come talk about real estate, real estate investing, working as a real estate agent, or talking about how to grow on social media. Now, my fourth source of income is from consulting calls, and I'll typically charge anywhere from $250 to $500 for every 45 minutes, really depending on the nature of the phone call.

So typically, most of the consulting calls I do are about analyzing real estate investments, talking about how to grow a career as a real estate agent, or helping people grow on social media. Now finally, my fifth source of income comes from those Amazon affiliate links that you see in the description. Anytime I recommend one of my favorite books, I'll usually make anywhere from a few cents to maybe a dollar every time someone buys one of those books.

So with that said, I talked long enough. This is what you guys have all wanted to see anyway. Let's go on my computer screen. I'm gonna record it and show you guys exactly how much I made from YouTube in 2018. I'll break it all down for you right now.

Okay, so welcome to my computer. Here we go, and I will click refresh just so you guys know I'm not like making this up or anything like that. This would all be pretty hard to fake, so here we go. So let's go. We're gonna go—this is last 28 days. Let's go to this year, 2018. So as you can see here, it is—this goes up to December 15th, so I still have 15 more days left on this. But as you can see, so far this year, basically excluding the last like 16 days of December, I have made $149,625.49 on YouTube.

So let's go back to the very beginning. You'll see in January, basically a year ago today, I was making about $170 a day. Here's $154 a day, here's $143 a day, and even I went through like a little segment here. Yeah, this is all under like $90 a day back here. You'll definitely see that the more videos you post, the more subscribers you get, the more views you get, the more money you make, and it definitely goes up.

And you'll see just a few months later now I'm making $300 a day, and then you'll see it keeps going up, and now I'm making closer to $400 a day, and then it keeps going up. Then some days I'm making, you know, almost $600 a day, and got a little slump here where it went down, but you'll see that this is basically where I had a video really take off—that was that credit card unboxing video.

But yes, you can see the top day here was $3,430.16, and now in December, let's go the last thirty days here. You'll see it's definitely a snowball effect that, yeah, over the last thirty days, I've averaged over a thousand dollars a day just from YouTube ad revenue. And you can see now lately, no ad revenues is pretty high right now because right when you get before the holidays, just advertisers are throwing money at YouTube channels.

So you can see here, but I mean on the 14th, that was a $1400 day. And for anyone who's curious, we can go back to last month of November. We can see that November has made me $33,000. We can even go back—let's just go back to the first few months, so we can get a better idea on that. Let's go to January first, and we can go all the way to—let's just go to the end of April to show you guys.

So it's definitely very much a snowball effect. So basically, within those four months here, I've averaged about $5,000 a month on YouTube. Now, for anyone who's curious why my ad revenue is very high, I highly suggest you watch my video where I break down how much a viral video pays. Long story short is that my CPM for a financial-related channel is extremely high, so I get paid a lot per view.

So what we can do, just to show you guys, let’s go the last 90 days, and then I will compare metric here with views, just so I can break it down and show you guys exactly this. So you can see here that in the last 90 days, I've got 5.6 million views, and that 5.6 million views has generated almost $70,000 in revenue over the last 90 days.

Now also, for anyone else confused, this is how much my take-home is. This is after YouTube has already taken their cut, so the gross on this is probably close to $100,000 in the last 90 days. But you can see here, I'll break it down for revenue. So let’s—here's a good revenue day here. So you can see sixty-four thousand views equates to just a little bit over a thousand dollars.

We'll see this day here—eighty-seven thousand views in that day on my channel did fourteen hundred and twelve dollars and seventy-two cents. Like this day—eighty-five thousand views did eleven hundred ninety-three dollars. And this is a very crazy day—four hundred and thirty-four thousand views did thirty-four hundred and thirty dollars and sixteen cents on my channel.

I'm guessing that this final figure is going to be a little bit higher, so I'm guessing, let's just probably say it's gonna be about a hundred and sixty-five thousand dollars on YouTube ad revenue in 2018 when you account for the entire year since this is cutting off in the sixteenth.

So also, I think it's pretty important for people to understand that a number like this does not just happen overnight. Let me show you guys for what I made for the entire year of 2017. This is me posting three videos a week, spending about 30 to 40 hours a week on YouTube—basically almost another full-time job on YouTube just posting videos. Here's how much I made for one year on YouTube: $26,966.69.

That is for basically a full-time job for the most part, spending time on YouTube making videos—that's how much I made! Now, some days were pretty good, some days were not that good. Like some days—let's pick this high day here. So this video, I made three hundred and thirty dollars off thirty-seven thousand views. If we go to the low here, I made, yeah, $22.38 from forty-three hundred and thirty views.

So—and that was, you know, almost a year and a half ago. I mean, you definitely see the snowball effect is going on here. Now number two, let's discuss the revenue that I make from the program, the Real Estate Agent Academy, by the way, link in the description for anyone who's interested in that.

Now, like I mentioned earlier, this is about a hundred videos that discuss the strategies to increase your income or grow your career as a real estate agent. Now, this is something I don't really promote too often. I think I've only talked about this on Instagram like once. I only talked about it on YouTube during videos that are somewhat relevant to working as a real estate agent. I just don't want to really seem too spammy, so for the most part, I just kind of will like casually mention it every now and then, and that's about it.

But with that said, let's go on to my Teachable account, and I will share with you guys exactly how much that made. So there you go, and I'm gonna blur out some of these you don’t see names or anything like that, but as you can see, I’ve done $90,674 of total sales. And my earnings from that, because they take some fees and you know, other little things here and there, my net earnings from this is $79,214.

And there's pretty much no ad cost associated with this. Everything I do is entirely free when it comes to promoting this. It's just all through basically YouTube and putting it in the description and just mentioning it. So all of this is basically my net earnings when it comes to how much money I make from the Real Estate Agent Academy.

Oh, and you can also see here exactly what the breakdown is per month on exactly how much I make from this. So I started really in February of 2018, so it has not been a full year yet, and this is what it is. You can see sometimes sales vary wildly. Like this is a great month—out of nowhere this one I made about 1,300 bucks this month. Obviously like $8,000 when I launched it.

So like some months just monster—just crazy high, and other months were just not. I don't know why it's kind of random, but there you go. That's how much money I make. Now third, let's talk about speaking engagements. Now, because I don't want to really go into specifics on how much I made from each event and who paid what, I will say that from doing about five events, I made about $13,000 this year.

Now, this is something I definitely see myself doing a lot more over the next few years. I absolutely see a future in doing this, and this has been the first year ever of doing any sort of speaking engagements. I've never done this sort of stuff before, so this is so much fun! I'm getting better at it now, and I want to start doing this a lot more.

Now fourth, let's talk about consulting calls. Now, because they typically take Venmo or PayPal for consulting calls, and it’s mixed in with a lot of other personal stuff and little other business things that I have, I don't really have any screenshots to prove this to you guys, so you're just gonna have to trust me on this one point that I'm just not like making this up.

But when it comes to doing this, like I said, I typically charge anywhere between $250 and $500 for a consulting call. And there are some weeks where I can do maybe three or four of them in a week and other weeks where I don't do anything for a few weeks in a row. I would probably say on average, I probably do about one to maybe two a week.

And in the beginning of the year, I was charging a lot less because I was just starting to get started with all of this. I wasn't really sure what the process was like; I was getting better, and it was a bit of a trial and error thing. But I would say overall for this year, I probably made about ten thousand dollars from doing consulting calls, and like I said, maybe about one a week, sometimes two a week here, you know, give or take.

Now, number five, let's talk about Amazon affiliate links, and go back to the computer for the good ol' screen recording. Now, this one is actually a little bit disappointing. For a channel that got almost 12 million views this year, you'd think it would be a little bit higher. But you can see over the last 90 days, I've made $906.86. Now, I went back and I added up everything.

Now, this goes all the way back to basically January 1st. I added up everything here that I've gotten paid, and within one year from Amazon affiliate links, this works out to be $1,478.53. Divide that by 12, and that works out to be an extra $123.21 a month.

So as you can see, in total for 2018 so far, I just added it all up. I made $253,318.02, and we've still got another like 14 days to go in December. So I have a feeling that if we're continuing to average about $1,300 a day in profit, we should be about $270,000 earned from YouTube in 2018.

And like I said, for comparison, the entire year of 2017, we did $26,966.69. 2018 was really the year where I started taking YouTube a lot more seriously, started integrating some other ways of making money like consulting calls, speaking engagements, the program I started. I saw views really take off, so there’s a lot of things that happened in 2018 that really caused a lot of this growth.

So I have no idea if this sort of trajectory is going to continue into 2019. Very well could. I have no idea—it really just depends on the YouTube algorithm and how well the economy does and what advertisers are willing to pay for channels like mine. So we very well could see that this just doubles in 2019, or maybe it goes down; I have no idea.

But one thing is for sure is that if you do subscribe, you bet one year from now I'm gonna make another video exactly like this comparing it with this year's video, but only if you subscribe and smash that notification bell so YouTube notifies you anytime I post a video.

So with that said, there you go. No secrets; that's exactly how much I made from YouTube in 2018. And honestly, I wish more people would make videos like this because when I started making YouTube videos, I had no idea how much people were making them. I made YouTube videos—I had no idea how much people can make part-time from doing YouTube videos.

Like I said, this is all just a part-time thing for me. It's not something I do full-time, but the fact that you can make over a quarter million dollars from doing something part-time online and have a great time doing it, like me making YouTube videos is like my idea of fun, and I get paid to have fun—it’s incredible!

So I think the more people that start to share these numbers, the more enticing it's going to be for other people just to figure it like, you know what? Let me do this too! And I think it's going to get people encouraged to figure like, I can't believe I can actually make an income from doing something that I've always wanted to do and be able to monetize in a way that everyone benefits.

So with that said, there you go! Thank you so much if you made it to the very end of the video. By the way, it's a huge thank you for that! You can comment down below; let me know you made it to the very end. I would much respond to like anybody who says like I made it to the end or if you watched to this point. Just let me know; I read every single comment.

So if you want to comment down below, that would greatly help. Also, if you haven't already subscribed, subscribe! Smash that notification bell so YouTube notifies you anytime I post a video. Add me on Snapchat and Instagram; I post here pretty much daily. So if you want to be a part of it there, feel free to add me there. Thank you again for watching, and until next time!
