Фундаментальная наука — это в очень большой степени вещь интернациональная. Это результат работы учёных всего мира, которые обычно работают вместе.

Вот смотрите: Батыгин наблюдает на японском телескопе, а японцы за это получают время на американских телескопах. Работают они, в общем, все вместе.

У нас положение какое-то несколько другое. Мы вот никак не можем вступить в ЕСУ. Например, у нас своих больших телескопов нет.

Если Россия продолжит оставаться в такой вот изолированной ситуации, то для молодого человека, планирующего заниматься этой наукой дальше, у него останется один только путь. Ему захочется, так же как вот Батыгина, захочется тоже жить.
