Flash CS4 Bone tool

·Nov 3, 2024

Hey guys, um this is M kids11. Today I'm going to be showing you the bone tool in um Adobe Flash CS4. So um first off, you can just open it. I have it right here on my doc.

Now, one thing I don't like is um some of the tools they force you to use ActionScript 3.0. But um since we're not going to be using any ActionScript, I'm just going to be showing you the bone tool. I'm just going to click ActionScript 3.0.

So, uh first off, you can just um click the paintbrush tool, and you can select how your brush size will. Make it like the third one from the bottom, and we'll just draw a character. Okay, now um you'll see in this new tool right there that's called the Bone tool.

So you can just click on that. Basically, the bone tool lets you um... Well, first off, you should select everything before, and the bone tool lets you um connect the joints together. So I'm just going to do that, so the way the head is separate from the neck. The arms are separate from the body.

Basically, everything that you're going to want to move separately, you're going to want to apply the bone tool to it. There we go! So now if I um click the cursor tool, you'll see um there's going to be a bone right next to it, and I can move these legs easily and freely.

And I can just do basically whatever I want without having to redraw it. Now, the bone tool isn't perfect, but um like what I mean by that is um if you have objects like the head um and you do that, you'll see that the head kind of gets squished there. But we're not going to deal with that right now.

So basically, if you want to animate your bone tool, you're going to see it makes a new layer right there. So, just right click on um whatever frame you want to animate to.

Uh, by the way, it's control click to right click. And you say insert pose. A pose is very similar to a motion tween. So um I'm just gonna pose and make that guy um, like I don't know, just make him do something funky.

Okay, now if I play it by pressing control enter, you'll see um it'll do that for you. So I think that's a really cool thing. You can make your guy walk much easily and uh yeah!

So if you want to make your guy walk, you can just press the arrow keys to move your person. It's not that fast, but um it's the easiest way. And then you can just um just keep applying that um onto new poses.

And yeah, so I hope this tutorial was helpful for you, and if you have any more questions, just um comment them, and I'll do my best to answer them. And uh yeah, you can request more tutorials. And thank you! Goodbye!
