В 2019 году учёные заметили странное, далёкое, тусклое галактика. Вот с таким вот номером внезапно начала набирать яркость. Вспышки в центрах галактик — явление нередкое. Звёзды иногда падают на чёрные дыры, вызывая всплески излучения. Они обычно яркие и длятся десятки дней.

Но здесь же объект светится гораздо дольше, но тускло. Конечно, сразу после открытия начались активные наблюдения за этой галактикой. К 2020 году она вышла на пик своей яркости, а к 2024 даже начала испускать рентген. На данный момент она ярко светится уже более полутора тысяч дней.

Это как если бы мы стали свидетелями рождения новой звезды, только размером с ядро галактики. Вполне вероятно, что мы наблюдаем очень важное для астрономов событие — начало активного поглощения материи сверхмассивной чёрной дырой, то есть активацию ядра.
