Caught in a Bat Tornado | Expedition Raw

If I'd reach my hand up right now, I could probably catch ten back. We were literally surrounded; millions of bats about us, running into us. Unbelievable! It's so incredible! We have 20 million bats all coming out of a cave at the same time. Perhaps one keeps landing on my leg.

These young bats have to leap off, and they need to make it out without running into other bats or losing their way; otherwise, they're going to drop to the floor. On the floor outside of the cave are dozens of whip snakes just waiting for these bats.

All right, right in front of us, we have a snake. He's just... he saws, and he's leaving. Two snakes just fought over a baby bat. It fell down! 50% mortality rate with the pups. They have so many things they have to survive: there are snakes, there's hawks, there's owls. There's a whole ecosystem dependent on these bats.

The young bats that get caught in the cactus have to free themselves right away because if they are stuck there and impaled, they're gonna die.

Look! I made it! Yeah, they start pooping on us too. I didn't really realize where the shark was. As soon as I jumped in the water, I jumped right in front of the thing. I just see a shark with its mouth open.

Schlieren Imaging in Color!

A moral consequentialist property norm?

Climate Change is Boring
Climate change is boring. Don’t get me wrong. It is incredibly important. It is just that the story of climate change is not especially compelling. And that is when the carbon dioxide concentration reached 400 parts per million. When I started making thi…
