Virus Issues

Mad Kids 101 here today.

Now, today's topic is going to be a little more gruesome than some of you are used to, because it's come to my attention that most people who use Macs believe that they are no longer susceptible to viruses. They think they can't get any viruses. Well, now I'm gonna prove you wrong very simply and easily.

I've gotten this attachment, cool thingy, from an email. Now, normally it wouldn't be called coolthing.zip; it might be called something legitimate like "Check out this." You know, it doesn't matter what it is. It could be something that's supposed to be important for work or your job, or something. It could be from someone you don't even know in an email or anywhere. You can even go to a website and download it.

But now, we'll just double-click this little zip file. It'll come up with this thing, cool thing, which is the actual program I made. Now we can double-click on cool thing, and it'll launch my virus.

Now, this is not actually a real virus, but I've just thrown it together in a few seconds, and I'll show you some of the things that might happen to you. So now, I'm going to open cool thing. "I read all of your files. I am a virus." So now you see all this crap come up on the screen.

I mean, what the heck is this? We don't know what this is, right? Right? Do we know what this is? No. And the weirdest thing is, like, we don't know what just happened. This virus might have done anything to my computer. It said, "I am a virus. I read all your files," or "I read all your files," because it pronounced it wrong.

And now there's just that extra little thing on my desktop called "Haha" that wasn't there before. Open this up, and it even says, "I've read all of your files." So now I've come to the sad realization that this virus has just come onto my computer and read all my files.

Maybe I have a password file. Like, who knows what it's gotten? And it probably sends it back to something so that the people who made the virus can read them. That just shows you how easily a virus can, in fact, be made for the Mac.

And that virus, if you're dumb enough to open something called cool thing or fun game or something like that, might just be the end of your computer, might be the end of your life. They still like your social security information.

So don't just think that you're awesome because you have a Mac and you'll never get a virus, because that is by far not true. Um, so just be cautious of what happens on your computer.

Um, so goodbye. Uh, subscribe to Mac Heads, youtube.com/heads101, and goodbye.
