Рекордсменом по миниатюрным существам до недавнего времени была лягушка педофаил, тела около 8 мм. Теперь же титул уходит в Бразилию, вот к этой малышке. Это лягушка брахицефал ликс, блошиная жаба. Да, это семейство почему-то называют седло, сами жабами.

Эти лягушки были известны с 2011 года. Они обитают всего на двух холмах в Бразилии. Учёные тогда собрали всего несколько экземпляров и не смогли определить их возраст. А размеры вида определяются по взрослым животным.

Теперь это недоразумение было исправлено. На этот раз было исследовано 50 взрослых животных. Длина тела самцов оказалась меньше длины тела самок и в среднем равнялась всего 7 мм. Это меньше многих видов насекомых. На экране вы видите как раз самку, так что отнимите примерно миллиметр на глаз у самок.

Трудности с внутренним ухом из-за малых размеров, поэтому они не слышат песен самцов.
