Оказавшись под сошедший лавиной, почти невозможно самостоятельно выбраться наружу. Во время схода снег перемешивается, нагревается от трения и подтаивает. Когда лавина останавливается, снег замерзает и усаживается, как бетон. Если вас накрыло головой, кому-то другому придется вас искать и откапывать.

Именно поэтому в 1968 изобрели лавинный датчик. Это как маячок, только приёмопередатчик. То есть он и передаёт, и принимает электромагнитные волны на частоте 457 Гц в режиме отправки сигнала. В том режиме, который нужно было бы включить, если бы я пошёл кататься далеко в горы, и если бы сошла лавина. Он так и передавал бы электромагнитный сигнал во все стороны.

Тогда мои друзья переключились бы из режима отправки в режим поиска и пошли бы меня искать. Чтобы вам было понятнее, Эрон сейчас в двух метрах от меня, у неё передатчик включён. Я вижу, что в паре метров от меня кто-то есть.
