У Фалеса не было столько денег, и поэтому он отправился к владельцам прессов и заплатил им за то, чтобы летом арендовать их аппараты по фиксированной цене. Оливок и правда уродилось невероятно много, и цена на аренду прессов взлетела до небес.

Фалес, заплатив уже оговорённую фиксированную цену, сдал эти аппараты по более высокой, а разницу забрал себе. Говоря нынешним языком, Фалес впервые применил опцион на покупку.
