Всю нынешнюю систему правосудия нужно сносить. В ней смысла не больше, чем в системе наказаний ведьм в XV веке. Та строилась на убеждении, что ведьмы ответственны за погоду или за то, что ребёнок подхватил бубонную чуму. А в наши времена в том же русле понимается ответственность за свои поступки. В ней нет смысла, и он не появится через 100 или 500 лет, ровно так же, как в судах над ведьмами.

Естественно, первая реакция всегда: "А что же делать? Ведь преступники опасны!" Но мы же знаем, что с ними делать – отправлять на карантин. Уже много веков мы умеем в случае опасности принимать карантинные меры. Если у здания грозит обвалиться крыша, мы его огораживаем, потому что иначе пострадает какой-нибудь прохожий. Крыша не злодей и не преступник; она обваливается не из-за недобрых намерений и не потому что продала душу дьяволу. Но мы, ограждая людей от возможных неприятностей...
