3 year old reports on oil spill conditions on Alabama's Gulf coast

Hey, this is Sadie and daddy. Say hello, STI! Hello! And we are at the beach in Gulf Shores.

What have we been doing this morning? We were playing. We're going to the beach. Is there oil on the beach today? Did you see any oil? No, I didn't either. What did we see on the beach? Seashells! We saw seashells, that's all we saw. Did we see anything else? I saw one clam. A clam!

All right, so we're going back. Let's go back to our umbrella. Here we go! It's pretty nice right now, isn't it? Oh, yeah. I don't think you will have a problem. It's about as beautiful as it gets right now. You can suck it up and take your picture.

Yeah, I'll do that. There's an oil rig and then there's dolphins. I don't know if you can still see it, but boats are still moving. There's oil rigs and boom, but everything seems to be going okay.

Hey, I have no idea what these people are doing. I think they’re monitoring the beach for oil and stuff. This is the clean the seagull patrol.

Hey, what are you guys doing? Checking the beach for oil and stuff? Just checking the beach out. Really? Have y'all seen any yet? No? That's good! Hopefully, it'll stay that way.

Do they have any prediction on when it's going to be here? No. All we know is what they say on the news, and I hadn't watched it in a day or two.

Oh really, okay. Through using my Southern Charm, I was able to get some information out of the guys. Apparently, they're working for BP, and they're paid to drive up and down the beach and monitor for signs of oil.

That tells you that BP is doing something and they're willing to front the money to have people do that. So I'm impressed! I'm impressed with BP for stepping up and taking charge.

And I'm also impressed with the state of Alabama for all the efforts that the National Guard is doing on the boom. So all over, me and Sai are going to get in the water to make sure it's safe for everybody else.

Do you want to do that? Yeah? Okay, we're going to go, and we will report back if it is safe to be in the water at this point in time. Are you ready? Let's run!

It's so safe! We're going to run back into the water! Is that what you want to do? Yeah? Go run! I want to hold your hand.

Okay, let's go!

Okay, we know a three-year-old is safe, so just in case there were any effects that her body mass was taking into account, I went ahead and dipped a smaller mammal into the water.

Now, I've been coming to this beach since I was my kid's age, and I hate the fact that it's going to be contaminated at some point—probably more than anybody watching this.

But be careful what you listen to! If you listen to the news, we're in a sludge-covered mess right now. But creation has a way of taking care of things in the long run. God designed it that way.
