Born 4 Months Early, This Tiny Survivor Beats the Odds | Short Film Showcase

I just always had this image of this daughter that I would have someday: kind of a dirty-faced, tree-climbing little girl.

24 weeks is considered viability outside the womb. To support at 23 weeks and six days, three white, 16 for the girls. Yeah, yeah, it's right on the line of what's medically possible and what's a lost cause.

I'm going back someday. What managerial then? Will you sleep all day and play? One of the doctors said that there was an 80% chance she would either die or develop serious disabilities.

Everything from blindness to paralysis to ventilator deafness, trouble palsy, intestinal problems, feeding tubes.

Oh sweetpea, it's okay. Look, she's definitely, definitely in this place. I cannot even count the number of times that we almost lost her.

Hi sweetie, it's your birthday today! You're three months old. Are you such a big girl? Are you having a good birthday?

Yeah, give me... what I can't get over is what it was inside of her that made her want to keep going.

This compares to... book your some pairs, you bug.

Ah, where's some socially? She's far ahead of where she should be for her age, and in terms of her cognitive ability or problem-solving, she's doing wonderful.

You fine motor... she's not really very good at puzzles. That's right there, right there. But you know, Tom's not either.

I've retained enough of the hospital superstition that I would never say she's out of the woods. We just never know what's around the corner.
