Этот человек стоит рядом с золотым самородком, добытым в Австралии в 1872 году. Самородок весил 285 кг, из которых 83 кг были чистое золото. Он не сохранился, его переплавили.

Землетрясения для этого — самое то. Сотни сдвигов земной коры позволяют получить густую сеть трещин, в которой растворы находятся под большим давлением. При этом образуются кварц, кварцевые жилы, в которых в основном и находится самородное золото.

Вот только раствора, достаточного для того, чтобы сформировались достаточно крупные залежи золота, нужно очень много — в буквальном смысле целые бассейны. Ведь концентрация золота во флюидах очень маленькая — всего лишь 1 на миллион. Но как...
