The Life of a Miner In Colombia | Mine Hunters
Meanwhile, outside, Fred is using his experience in large commercial gold mines to build a system that can protect the area around the mine.
So basically, what's happening here is we've got a lot of water drainage out of the mine, and with the water's coming heavy metals, specifically iron. You can see how orange this is and the reddish color, and that's the iron. Iron can carry some bad things with it and cause the water to be acidic.
So basically, we don't want this water to directly flow into the river, which is right over there. What we want to do is build a sediment pond. A sediment pond is a still pool created to slow down the movement of heavy metals and toxins carried in running water from here all the way around to meet up with these. That's the first step.
Local miner De Nile is lending his muscle to the task. "What we're trying to do is slow the water down so that the iron, which you can see the red on the rocks, stays in the pond, and then the clean water goes to the river."
"How long have you been a miner?"
"Funny, did you ever get unlucky enough to get caught up in the wars and the violence?"
"Person movie Diamond Arrow?"
"Yeah, a stone coke problemas cosa. Mr. Riklis gravis is the sole accord. Army pays Miyako Mestalla free, pero puede no respira tranquilo."
"King reporter Amita por ciento mal dot, pero la gente for Cinco community hain Aradia ear Wamba."
"See, thanks for having us. We got to bring these up to there. See, I can't imagine mining in a time where, you know, it's kind of like the wild wild west where you don't know what you're gonna show up to every day at the mine. Is there gonna be someone there wanting to take it from you? Are you gonna have to run for your life? But times are changing here. Devore is turning a page, so it's cool to be on the forefront of that."
