Does Commitment Mean Better Sex? | Original Sin: Sex
Looks okay. Well, the first thing I would like to say is that it's amazing that in 2016, a channel like National Geographic, who used to show only animal sex and never human sex, is now having Dr. Ruth Westheimer talking about sex.
There are hundreds of things that somebody like me, a sex therapist, a sex educator, would like people to know more about. But if I had to pick one word, then I would say relationship. Because sex without relationship, in my way of thinking, is not a good thing.
I do not want people to go on social media or television with their personal histories. When people asked me, I did a radio program for 10 years every Sunday night. I never asked for names; I said you can always say, "A friend of mine has a question." That’s how I believe sex education ought to be taught: not using people's experiences as an example, because everybody has different experiences.
If anybody would ask me the key to happiness, I would say to find that one significant other in your life that you want to build a relationship with. In my way of thinking, it's having children and grandchildren and being engaged in something. It doesn't matter what it is, what profession; it doesn't have to be a professor of sexuality.
Anybody who is pleased and happy with what they are doing—that's the key to happiness.
