Edgar: crowdfunding drive

·Nov 8, 2024

Uh, my name is Thomas, and last year I made the film "George Ought to Help."

Right now, I'm working on a follow-up called "Edgar the Exploiter." It will be similar to George in that it will be a gentle pro-liberty propaganda piece, because George was a short animation about it. It asked the viewer to consider their attitude towards interpersonal morality in relation to how the democratic welfare state works.

While George dealt with the ethical question, Edgar will focus on an economic theme. It will explain how government intervention, even when it's enacted with the best of intentions, can end up hurting those it tries to help and how it carries hidden costs.

I'm trying to raise funding this time because I'd like to have the film completed and online before 2012. Funding would allow me a period where I could work concentratedly on it.

I also noticed that because George was received so well, I thought it would be nice to give people the chance to be involved in the project. So, by contributing, you get one of a series of different rewards.

You can have your name in the credits of the film, for instance, or you could appear in the film. One of the characters will be made in your likeness. You can also receive the hand-drawn artwork for the film, all the support material, the character sketches, and the storyboards.

I think you'll like it. If you liked "George Ought to Help," then I'm confident that you'll like this one and that you'll be proud to have helped realize it.

Okay, sounds good.
