Find Hidden Files

Mads 101 here.

Today, this is going to be a short video on our hidden file finder application. We called it Finder. You can download it by clicking a link in the description to download.

I already have it downloaded and put on my desktop, so I'll just double-click it. It has the icon of a CD, and when it opens up, you'll get this teeny little window: "Show" and "Hide" hidden files.

So, show and hide buttons – you're just going to want to click "Show." Now I can see all of my hidden files, like .localized. Any file that begins with a DOT automatically becomes hidden. Now I can see all those hidden files.

In my home folder, I have Trash. Inside of here, I have nothing because my trash is empty. But say I put something in here; all of a sudden, there’s something in my trash. I can just drag something out of there, and there’s nothing in my trash anymore.

There are also a bunch of other hidden things, like .Xcode and .dox. This will show you all the hidden dot files. Of course, if you decide you don't want to see those anymore, even though it's pretty useful to see all these hidden files, it’s just great to be able to see them.

You can also open Finder and click "Hide," and they will hide themselves once again.

So, thank you for watching. Just download this by clicking the link in the description, and goodbye!
