Но скрыться от радиации у вас никогда не получится. Практически в каждом веществе есть небольшая доля нестабильных изотопов. Поэтому всё вокруг нас немножечко радиоактивно: компьютеры, видеокамеры, яблоки, бананы. Да, даже люди.

В человеке, например, каждую секунду происходит несколько тысяч радиоактивных распадов. Другое дело — интенсивность излучения. Конечно, радиация обычных предметов очень слабая и безопасная. Фоновая радиация вообще могла быть движителем эволюции, ведь возможно именно благодаря ей гены мутировали.

Так что получились мы с вами такие вот классные. Осталось понять, как защититься от излишней дозы радиации. Ну, от альфа-излучения вас легко спасёт картонный лист; от бета вы можете укрыться за стеклом.

А вот гамма-излучения пронизывает всё насквозь. Так что от него можно спастись только за толстым слоем свинца.
