Есть Млечный путь. Это одна галактика, но огромная. Поперёк что-то около 100.000 световых лет. Это много, а вокруг неё сплошное ничего. Ого, а я и не знала. Почти пустота. Можно сравнить с континентами: вот у нас континент, а во все стороны океан и есть другие галактики.

Потом опять ничего. Потом снова галактики, опять ничего, опять галактики. На анимации не соблюдён масштаб. А если соблюсти, выглядит бы это примерно так: галактики разделены огромными расстояниями, обычно это миллионы световых лет.

Если рассмотреть издалека, станет заметно, что галактики объединяются в кластеры, а те, в свою очередь, в супер кластеры. И все эти скопления отделены друг от друга гигантскими пустотами. А угадайте, сколько во Вселенной галактик?
