Недавнее исследование нашло связь между привлекательностью в старших классах, а точнее, её отсутствием и сроком жизни. Исследователи изучили фотографии выпускников из Висконсина, сделанные аж в 1957 году, и выяснили, что наименее привлекательные люди имели значительно более высокий риск умереть раньше тех, кто выглядел средне.

Те, кто оказались в нижней части шкалы привлекательности, имели на 17% выше риск крайней смерти. Если задуматься, то наша внешность влияет не только на нашу самооценку, но и на разные важные аспекты жизни: на возможность найти работу, построить семью, на социальные связи и, в итоге, на доходы.

В исследовании участвовали 8.500 человек, которых оценивали по фотографиям из школьных альбомов. Затем эти оценки сопоставляли с данными о смертности по состоянию на 2022 год. Выяснили, что те, кто выглядел очень привлекательно, не жили дольше тех, кто выглядел средне; только крайне непривлекательные люди жили меньше.
