Ещё один аргумент в пользу жидкой воды подо льдом — это заметные на поверхности странные узоры дугообразной формы. Они похожи на ряды соединённых арок. Мы это называем циклоида.

На полностью ледяном спутнике им взяться неоткуда. Мы считаем, что они формируются, когда трещина образуется и растёт примерно со скоростью человеческого шага по точкам напряжения, которые образуются в процессе деформации Европы при вращении вокруг Питера.

Если бы там не было океана, амплитуда была бы слишком мала, чтобы объяснить появление этих трещин. Но если там есть океан, то всё сходится.
