New iPod Shuffle

Hey guys, this is Maads 101, and as you probably know, CU. That's why, because that's hence the title of the video. Um, Apple came out with a new iPod Shuffle. This is the world's thinnest iPod, and it's the first iPod I can talk to. That's why, in the home, their Apple's homepage, it says "the new iPod Shuffle: the first music player that can talk to you." Small talk.

So, um, what are some brand new things? Obviously, it can talk to you, but what do they mean by "it can talk to you?" What they mean by that is if you hold it down, you can hear the name of the album, or the name of the song and the artist. And if you hold it down for a long time, you can actually browse your library—not your playlists. So you can browse your playlist, which I think this is kind of dumb, but kind of at the same time.

Because the reason why it's dumb is it kind of defeats the point of the iPod Shuffle. But it's cool 'cause if you can't afford a nice iPod, like an iPhone or an iPod touch or something like that, you still can get an Apple product, and you can pick your songs. Okay, so, and I like the feature where you can know who you're listening to because otherwise, it's like playing the music quiz all the time, which is kind of annoying. Well, I don't know, I'm bad at Music Quiz, and I know most of my songs.

Okay, so, um, it has the voice over, but the one thing that really bothers me about this new iPod is it doesn't have a single button. Most people would like that because Apple, as you probably know, tries to make things simpler and simpler. Kind of like how they got rid of the trackpad and made the whole thing the button. Or I'm sure there's tons of examples with, like, the iPhone. They made the whole thing the screen, so simpler and simpler.

But I think they should have given this at least one button. Because unless you're wearing the Apple headphones, you can't do anything with this besides listen to the song and hope for the best. You can't even go to the next song if you're not in the mood for that song.

Okay, and it has voice over, and the voice over works in many languages such as English, of course, Chinese, KZC, Dutch, French, German, Greek, Italian, Japanese, Polish, Portuguese, Spanish, Swedish, and Turkish. And it sounds different if you do it with Windows or with Tiger or if you do it with Leopard. So, this is what it sounds like on Leopard: "All songs, Chill Out Mix, One Hit Wonders, Rainy Day music." And this is what it sounds like if you do it on PC or you do it on Tiger: "All songs, Chill Out Mix, One Hit Wonders."

Okay, and I'm going to play one more. I'll play French Ling: "Mix, Mix, Relax music." K?

So that's what some of the cool stuff is. And, um, this is what it sounds like if you want to hear the artist's name and the song: "Just Dance, Lady Gaga." So as you can see, it lowers the volume of the music, but it still plays the song, but you can hear the audio of who's doing it. So, I think that's really cool.

And this is what happens if you want to listen to what multiple playlists sound like: "All songs, Chill Out Mix, One Hit Wonders, Rainy Day music, running playlist." See? So, I'm just going to scroll through, and once you like one—once you hear one that you like—you just like go, no, you just tap.

So basically, I don't have the new headphones because they don't work with iPhone. Otherwise, I would get them, but this is kind of like what the old one is like except for there's these things coming out of it for the volume. So, of course, there's the volume. You can tap to pause, double tap to skip, triple tap, triple tap, tap to go back, hold to hear the name of the song, and you hold it for a really long time to hear for—um—to browse your playlist. And then once there's one that you like, you can tap it.

So that's kind of like the whole idea—to be simpler—but I think that it's kind of annoying: triple tap or to hold and then tap. People are going to get confused with that. But, um, I think they should have at least given it one button that skips. Or, I think it would have been cool if they gave it the accelerometer thing with the Nano, where you can just shake the Shuffle.

Because, um, the whole idea of the iPod Shuffle is to shuffle your music, and so I think it should be super easy to do that. Of course, it does work on Mac and PC, and um, it is the world's thinnest iPod so far.

So, um, for more information, go to apple.com/iPodShuffle or go link in the description of the video. Thank you for watching.
