То, что влияние хвостом - это натуральная коммуникация, причём направленная именно на людей, известно давно. А учёных интересует вопрос, как именно развилось виляние по отношению к человеку.

Один из возможных ответов, судя по недавней аналитической работе, это селекция. Вероятно, люди веками отбирали себе в компаньоны тех собак, которые чаще виляли хвостом. Один из экспериментов был направлен на искусственный отбор чернобурых лисиц: на протяжении поколений среди них отбирались самые дружелюбные и смирные особи. В итоге лисицы стали вилять хвостом. Так что одомашнивание собак могло идти по схожему принципу.

С другой стороны, есть мнение, что виляние хвостом заменяет лай, поэтому люди отбирали более хвостовых собак, чтобы не слушать слишком громкие запевы. А как вы считаете, почему собаки перешли к вилянию хвостом? И будет ли какая-то эволюция у этого жеста?

Не всегда виляние - это признак радости. Бывают и исключения, и нужно различать радость и агрессию.
