Что потеря памяти об алкогольных приключениях обусловлена количеством выпитого, тут всё несколько сложнее. Чтобы с этим разобраться, учёные пригласили группу студентов колледжа, примерно пополам парней и девушек. Все они были привычны к употреблению алкоголя. С ними случался алкогольный блэкаут в недавнем прошлом, плюс они были готовы носить на запястье трансдермальный датчик уровня алкоголя в крови.

По выходным всё это требовалось, чтобы определить изменения в организме. Блэкауты случались хотя бы один раз у 70% испытуемых. И вот что выяснилось: потеря памяти зависела не просто от того, сколько было выпито, а от трёх разных факторов.

От того, насколько велика была скорость интоксикации. Как долго эта концентрация росла и от того, насколько велика была пиковая концентрация. Больше всего из этих трёх факторов влияло количество часов последовательного повышения концентрации.
