Jordan Peterson’s New Online University

And then with my daughter Michaela, I've started this Peterson Academy. Our plan is we want to drive the cost of a bachelor's degree down to four thousand dollars.

We've got 30 professors on board so far. I've been able to identify stellar lectures from all over the world. They give four two-hour lectures on whatever they really want to teach about.

The rule is we'll put an audience together for you in the studio. We want you to teach what you love at the edge of your ability. We'll offer that to as many people as we possibly can who are pursuing accreditation.

What we'll do is take two or three of those eight-hour lectures, bundle them together, and that'll give you one university credit.

We've developed a good app that adds a social component to it so that people can discuss the lectures while they're watching them. They can make social contacts and maybe have meetup groups in different cities.

Then, we're going to set the grading system in stone. So the grade you'll get for this university will be your performance; there'll be no grade inflation.

We're hoping that a degree from this university will indicate to employers a true level of competence. We're going to roll that out; we hope in November.

A catalyst speeds up a reaction by lowering the activation energy, and there are many types of catalysts. First, we’re going to look at enzymes, which are biological catalysts. Let’s say that this represents our enzyme, and the place where the reaction oc…
We Can’t Prove Most Theorems with Known Physics
The overwhelming majority of theorems in mathematics are theorems that we cannot possibly prove. This is Girdle’s theorem, and it also comes out of Turing’s proof of what is and is not computable. These things that are not computable vastly outnumber the …

Playing Sci-Fact or Sci-Fiction | StarTalk
Now we’re going to play a game called SFA or SCI fiction, and you’re going to identify whether you think it is SFA or a sci fiction or maybe you don’t know if I don’t know either. I won’t claim to know. That sounds good. The days were shorter millions of…

Estimating the sign of 0.4 using a McLaurin polynomial, what is the least degree of the polynomial that assures an error smaller than 0.001? So, what are we talking about here? Well, we could take some function and estimate it with an Nth degree McLaurin…

Earlier, roller coasters used to start from a height with a lot of gravitational potential energy, which then got converted into kinetic energy as the coaster went down. But what you’re seeing here is an example of something called a launched roller coast…
