The first time I came here was in 2001, and it was just like yesterday.
The first time I arrived here, I was so, so amazed that nature came so, so close, and so it really touches [Music] me.
There are two species of sea turtles that are found in the Anavan: one is the hawksbill turtle, and the other one is the green turtle.
We have started monitoring in 1992; since then, until now, it is the longest single species of monitoring that has ever been done in the South Pacific.
These sea turtles take a lot of years, about 8 years, before they mature to come back to nest again.
The lifespan of the turtle is just like a human being, around 70 years.
The turtles that nest here will not nest in any other place in the world; they will always come back to nest where they are born.
The conservers go out at night, and they monitor the turtles that come in to lay their eggs because turtles only come in to lay their eggs at night.
We are currently having people that are trained so that they become conservation officers who are well equipped, so that the information that we get from the monitoring is of high quality.
