Всё равно как если бы мы перенесли трёхмерную землю на карту, при такой проекции неизбежно искажение. Способы точности перенести землю на двухмерную поверхность просто не существуют.

Зато разные карты могут пригодиться для разных целей. Например, если вам важно сохранить характеристики углов и очертаний для мореплавания, когда важно следить за направлением, берём проекцию меркатора. Как раз к ней мы все привыкли. Её недостаток в том, что не соблюдаются размеры. Например, в этой проекции почти одинаковыми получаются Африка и Гренландия, хотя первая примерно в 14 раз больше второй.

Проекция Гала Петерсона сохраняет относительные размеры, но искажает углы и формы.
