Похоже, из биологии пришло не так уж много мемов, но кое-что без запинки.

От тарабанит любой школьник. Например, в какой бы точке мира вы не оказались, стоит только спросить про митохондрии, вам наперебой бросятся рассказывать, что митохондрия - это энергетическая станция клетки.

Как твердили всем, кто проходил хотя бы базовый курс биологии, мы знаем, что митохондрии снабжают нас всей необходимой энергией. Они извлекают её из пищи в ходе процесса, известного как клеточное дыхание.

И это досадно, потому что заняты далеко не только этим. Они создают компоненты ДНК, восстанавливают повреждённые клетки и наводят в них порядок, перерабатывая молекулярный мусор.

Митохондрии - это маленькие прокариотические самородки, в которых происходят невероятные превращения. Я расскажу вам о них и покажу, что митохондрия - это гораздо больше, чем клеточная электростанция.
