I decided to change my life

Couple of months ago, I experienced my first burnout. I couldn't get out of my bed. I was escaping from my responsibilities. I couldn't do anything; I was delaying every single thing and procrastinating even from the things that I was enjoying. During that time, I gained a lot of weight, I lost a couple of friends, and I failed at a lot of things that I didn't mention on this channel.

Then I published a video called "We Need to Talk," and you guys really supported me. I decided to take a break from everything except YouTube because YouTube is literally my passion. It just gives me joy when I post videos, when I make videos, and when I think about videos. Also, it's my source of income, so I allowed myself to fully rest and recover. But during that time, I also reflected on what I was doing wrong; what was the reason for my burnout.

I decided to analyze the behaviors, the mind, the emotions of mine, and the patterns that I had back in the day. Finally, I found my answer. I am back in life with a full of energy, full of positivity, full of power. I am ready to change my life and be the better version of myself. But the real question is: Are you ready for the change?

Hi guys, it's me, Rudy! I hope you guys are doing well; I'm doing awesome! It's currently 6:00 AM in the morning, and I'm filming a video—I'm that awesome, you know? So today we're gonna talk about how I'm going to change my life, or how I'm planning to change my life, and what you can do with me and how you can change your life too.

So firstly, let's start with what we want to change. The first one is sleep schedule. My sleep schedule is so messed up right now. I'm filming this video at 6:00 AM! Like, don't ever question my sleep schedule because it doesn't exist.

And then the second one is studying schedule. If you have been following this channel for a while, you might know that I was looking for an apartment, and luckily, I found an apartment. During that time, like for a whole month, I was staying at hotels. I couldn't set myself some sort of study schedule that I can follow, so I definitely want to set myself a study schedule so that I don't really need to think after uni whether I'm going to study or whether I'm going to work out or something.

Once you make routines, you're just like autopilot, do those things, and you don't need to set up yourself for that. So I really love routines in that way. Then the third one is the eating habits. So if you're following, you know that I was eating out every single day for a month, and now I'm pretty broke.

But anyways, beside that, eating outside every single day is obviously not healthy. If you're choosing healthy options, yes, maybe, but I wasn't. I was just enjoying my yummy foods, and I gained four kilos, which is around eight pounds or something. Do I regret it? Absolutely not! Absolutely not! Love, I love every single fad of that! But the problem is that it was not really healthy at all.

That's obviously not good. What you eat really affects how you feel. When I was in Japan, I was eating pretty healthy. I was eating my grandpa’s meals and my mom’s meals. I was also eating outside, but I was eating the majority of things that were really, really healthy. Now I just felt full of energy and things. So eating healthy is also one of my goals.

Then the fourth one is exercising. There are so many pieces of evidence proving that exercise helps with your mental health as well as your physical health. So definitely, I really want to exercise regularly once again. And the fifth one is reading books. Even though I read a bunch of newsletters and articles online, I feel like valuable, true information comes from the books.

I really want to go back to the routine where I was reading at least 30 minutes every single day, and it was really helping me grow as a person. Reading is just really fun! Rather than scrolling on Instagram, I think we should all read. I should read, you should read; we should all read more.

And the sixth one is reducing social media time. I think it really depends on how you use social media. Sometimes I use it really effectively; I just research things, I watch some videos in order to make videos. Because in order to be a good video producer, you gotta be a good viewer first. You gotta be a good consumer so that you can analyze what other YouTubers are doing—like editing tactics, filming, and lighting, and all that stuff.

But at the same time, we all know that YouTube shorts and Instagram reels are just like a rabbit hole. Once you just slip in that hole, you can't really get out easily. Hours and hours I spent just scrolling Instagram reels about the things that I don't even care about. So I think I should stop that.

I'm sure that you're doing that too! Don't look at me judgmentally, okay? I know that you're doing it too, and we're gonna stop that. Number seven, eight, nine: doing more output than input. We read, we watch, we listen to a lot of things—at least I do—but I wasn't really outputting those informations that I learned from those.

Therefore, I was forgetting the content that I was consuming, and I wasn't really aware of what I was consuming. I was just consuming random content that I don't really care about, and I was wasting my time on those things rather than spending my valuable time on those nonsense content and fooling my brain with unnecessary information. I think I should—or we should—focus more on things that matter to us so that we can expand our mind and expand our vision and grow as a person.

When you want to chill, just watch some of the things that you enjoy, you know? It's okay too! But I was just watching Kim Kardashian's voice evolution or something. I don't care about Kardashians, and why the heck am I watching it like 4 AM? Kim Kardashian's voice evolution—I should stop that.

Then we should output them. Rather, you can write a journal, you can write a blog post, or you can make videos like this. So there are tons of ways to output, but probably I'm gonna make a video about it because input, output, and research behind them is really interesting.

Eighth one is enough time for socializing. I feel like from my childhood, I didn't prioritize socializing. I have very limited time, to be honest, because I do YouTube, I have med school, and I have other projects that are in my mind that I want to do. So, to be honest, I don't have time at all.

But we don't just have time; we make time. If you say, "I don't have time for this," the majority of us, of course, there's a small percentage of people who really, really don't have time for anything. But I'm talking about the majority; we have time. The thing is, we don't prioritize things that matter to us.

For example, if you say, "I don't have time to work out," no, you have time! Stop scrolling on Instagram, stop wasting your time on social media for unnecessary things, and do the things that matter for you! You're just not prioritizing exercising, and that's all.

But for sure, for a very small percentage of people, such as moms, or maybe you're looking for another person, or maybe you're trying to make money, you really don't have time. I do understand that, but the majority of us have time. I decided to prioritize socializing more because I'm lazy. I'm really lazy!

I can literally cancel our plans in the last five minutes and go home and sleep. So I should really stop it, and I think I should have conversations with more people. The thing is that it takes me time to get used to someone else, but sometimes not at all, though it really depends on that person.

Once we get close, I really like to show my real personality, but if we can't match our auras—or in Japanese, we say "hacho," which is kind of like a... I don't know what's that, but I'm gonna write hacho in English here—or like hacho doesn't match, we can't really get along. But I should probably stop that and socialize more with different types of people so that I can broaden my vision and have a different look at life.

I should socialize more.

Anyways, now let's talk about how we're gonna do it. I think this is the most important part. I was reading one of my friends, Matt's. "Hey there, friends! I'm Matt, a joyful human working to live life on purpose. On my channel, we discuss how to live life more purposefully, mindfully, and effectively—weekly newsletter, which I'll link down in the description below."

So he was talking about input-based goals and output-based goals, and he was saying that rather than output-based goals, we should focus more on input-based goals. What does it mean? So let's say you want to lose weight. Okay, I do want to lose weight, or at least I want to get in shape, or lose like five kilos, ten kilos—whatever is an output-based goal.

When it comes to input-based goals, that would be working out every single day for maybe 30 minutes, eating healthy, getting your sleep, reducing stress, and stuff—the things that you will do in order to achieve your goals. Focusing on them is input-based goal setting. Focusing only on the outcome—like losing the weight and like seeing that on the scale—would be an output-based goal.

I was focusing too much on output that I wasn't really focusing on input. As James Clear, who is the author of the very famous book "Atomic Habits," says, rather than focusing on goals, we should focus on systems. So let's say I want to publish three videos a week. Rather than focusing on three videos a week as an output-based goal, I should focus on when I should edit them, when I should film them, when I should write a script on them, when I should do research about them, and stuff.

When you forget your goal but focus on your system only and do the system, you'll succeed. But when you forget the system and focus only on your goal, you won't succeed. So the important thing is focusing on your system, focusing on your inputs rather than your outputs when it comes to achieving a goal.

So the second tip, or second thing that we're gonna do, is planning and scheduling. I think whenever I don't plan my things, I forget them quite a lot because I have a lot of things to do. I have a lot of meetings, videos, online courses, uni, gym, and a lot of stuff, so I really need to plan them out.

I changed my planning system. I have a video about scheduling and planning, but I changed it. I think it's much better right now, and I can make a video about it if you guys want. I use Notion and Google Calendar together, and I created a system that works for me. Just like, it works for me right now, I can make a video about it if you guys want.

Third one, in order to achieve your goal, I think it is important to have your accountability buddies. So in Part-Time YouTuber Academy, which is an online course of Aliyah, I met with two amazing, amazing people. We collaborated before: Izzy and Matt are my close friends. We have weekly Zoom calls, and in that Zoom call, we give live updates to each other.

We've been doing that for months. I really love our sessions; it just gives me a whole new perspective. After every single call, I feel much better. So I think having your friends fighting for your goals with your friends is much better than fighting alone, you know? When you have somebody that you know that supports you, and you support them, I think it's much easier to achieve anything.

So find an accountability buddy. If you don't have any friends and if you're struggling with finding an accountability buddy, you can use this channel as an accountability buddy. So we can become accountability buddies from today on. Every single Sunday, I'm gonna upload a weekly update, sort of a vlog, maybe a chit-chat video. You can come to that video and comment down below like, "This week for me was blah blah. Like this, compared to last week, this went good, this went bad," and stuff so that you can also output your week, and we can become accountability buddies. I think it's a great idea! I see your comments; I feel like I can stick to this more if I would upload a video every single week, and if you watch that, I think you can stick to it too.

So it's kind of like a win-win situation, in my opinion! Let's do it! Then the fourth thing I'm gonna do is reflecting on Notion. There was a short period of time where I was doing journaling for a week, and that week, the mental clarity of mine was insane. I remember that week so clearly—what I was feeling, what I did, and stuff—compared to the weeks that I don't journal.

So my whole life journaling really helped me that week. I should journal more. I should reflect on my feelings, my emotions, my thoughts more. It's also like a sort of output. I need to turn it into a habit. Journaling is another habit of mine, but Matt is journaling, and he is in love with it. So I feel like I should give it a shot and journal more.

I can also make a video about it, like journaling on Notion and stuff. Ah, so many video ideas! I'm happy! But yeah, these are the things that I'm gonna do. What you can do is you can join this not-a-challenge. I don't want to call it a challenge because when you call it a challenge, you feel like you have to succeed. But it's not like that; this is like a whole lifelong journey of ours that we're gonna do together.

Yeah, so these are the things. This is just kind of like a life update. I'm just letting you know so that you can join too. I think it's a good thing, don't you think so? Drinking coffee at like 6 AM without the sleep is not a good idea. I think I'm gonna pull an all-nighter, finish this video, and publish it today. I know I'm wild!

So in order to not miss every Sunday's video, don't forget to hit the bell button so that you get a notification or something. Yeah, I'm tired. I'm tired; I'm sleepy. I don't know if you can notice but I'm dying inside!

Also, my nails, I removed them because I don't know, I get annoyed! Anyways, yeah, I hope you guys enjoyed this video. Let me know in the comments down below if you're gonna join or not. I'm not pushing you to anything; you decide your life!

Yeah, maybe—ah, why is coffee this good? I love coffee so much! [Music]
