Потому что время на Луне отличается от земного. Разумеется, в этом виновата гравитация. В земных условиях она сильнее, из-за чего время идёт медленнее.

А на Луне, где гравитация слабее в шесть раз, время спешит. Поэтому и нужны собственные лунные часы, координированное лунное время (LTC) по аналогии с UTC.

Астрофизики из нас выяснили, что лунные сутки короче земных на 57,5 микросекунды. То есть за 50 лет накапливается целая секунда разницы. Казалось бы, это мелочь, но такие нюансы могут устроить хаос в космической коммуникации и синхронизации данных.

Чтобы выявить точную разницу во времени между Луной и Землёй, они изучили движение Луны и Земли вокруг так называемого барицентра. От положения планет относительно Солнца учёные применили к этим данным математические формулы и определили точную разницу.
