3rd Party Fonts
Okay guys, this is Matt.
Kids on one. Today I'm going to be making a video on how to get new fonts onto your computer. This is third-party fonts: you can browse amongst thousands of fonts and easily install them on a Mac or a PC.
Now, on a computer, it will come with many fonts. Okay, so if I just highlight this and I say 'font', show, show font. I can browse against—I can browse amongst thousands of fonts. Or how many fonts are on here?
There's different fonts for different things. If I want a school mood, I can get on that. Something some fun to teach someone to write in cursive. There's many different fonts for many different occasions.
But let's say you need a font for a specific occasion that just doesn't happen to come on your computer. Well, there's a great site called dafont.com. This site has thousands of fonts and I believe that all of them are free. I also believe that they all work on Mac and PC.
So you can browse; they're all—they have categories. So they have like cartoon. Here are some like cartoonish fonts if you're writing a comic book or something. One that I really like is graffiti. If I were going to make like a graffiti-style poster for maybe like a party or something.
So let's browse amongst—again, these are all free—or almost all of them. Some might say demo but almost all of them are free. I'm sure you'll find one that's free that you like.
So this is really cool—it's called a soup, I think something like that—and I'm gonna download this. And again, it says it's free and you can also donate to the author. So if I click on it, I can see all of the letters; here are all of the uppercase letters and here are all the lowercase letters.
So here it just happens that the lowercase letters are smaller than the uppercase. Here are some of their numbers and symbols and some of the characters. If they don't have a character for that, it will let you know.
So I'm going to go ahead and download this file—just click download, okay? And it'll just download in zip format and open up for you automatically. So if it zipped—if it didn't unzip, just open the zip and you should have a dot tff file.
So just double-click on the dot tff file. This is called the Super 3 font. Again, when you open it, it will show you all of the characters. Okay, so it says not installed, but if I opened it when it was installed, I could probably uninstall it.
So now I'm going to say 'install font' and it's right there; it's called Super 3. So now I'm just gonna say Super 3. And there we go, I have this in Hello World. Just going to write Mac Kids 101.
As you can see, some of the characters don't look the best in this font, so you might want to, in advance, look at how the characters are going to turn out.
So that was pretty much how you get different fonts on your computer. Again, the site is dafont.com, and it has thousands of free fonts.
So thank you very much for watching Mac Kids 101! Subscribe, and goodbye.
