HTML 5 and USB 3.0
Hey guys, this is Matt Kids, and I'm on with the video on two major technologies that are out.
So first, I'm gonna go into the first one: HTML5. HTML5 has just come out; HTML4 has been out for a long time, HTML3 as well. HTML is the web language that's standardly used, so when you go to say google.com, all the stuff you see is under the hood coded with HTML5 and a few image types of things as well. But the way things are laid out on sites are normally HTML, which is cool.
The great thing about this HTML5 is that there are more tags and more things you can do. It's easy to get keyboard input; it's easy to do animations; it's easy to, for instance, do things like drag and drop. HTML5 really allows you to do more; it's like Flash. It's going to replace Flash, in my opinion. It is just as good as Flash in every way. It should replace Flash.
In fact, YouTube even made their own video player in HTML5 just to prove that HTML5 is just as good. Now, unfortunately, that video player does not function correctly, but I'm sure it'll be working; like, the play/pause button works, everything essentially works.
On the other hand, HTML5 is new; people haven't started using it. Browsers really don't support it so far; it's the only thing that really supports it, you know?
Another thing that's new is USB 3.0. So, you might already have a USB port in your computer that you plug your camera into, your mouse into, your drive into, stuff like that, but it's slower than FireWire and Ethernet and a bunch of other stuff like SATA. Now there's going to be a new version of USB coming out that is faster than everything else. It has 4.9 gigabits per second transfer rate—it's amazing! It's better than everything else.
Unfortunately, since it is better than everything else, there's no way you can buy an adapter for it for your computer; you have to get a new computer to get USB 3.0 support, which frustrates me a lot. It's very interesting though, so I'm going to have to buy a new computer once computers start supporting it.
It's a while away, but USB 3.0 and HTML5 are two great new technologies. Now, HTML5 is going to be easier to get support; like, once Firefox starts supporting it and Internet Explorer, everyone's going to essentially have it. But on the other hand, things like USB 3.0, people aren't going to have it for a while.
But I thought I'd just throw that out there before all of you know about it. It would be interesting if I could just freak you guys out a little making a video on this new stuff that's coming out. HTML5 is really cool; it actually lets you do like reflections. It's the future, in my opinion; it can definitely replace Flash, and there's no reason why it shouldn't since Flash costs 900 dollars to start making stuff with, unless you know someone else who has Flash.
So it's really a shame. HTML5 fixes all those problems, and HTML5, it's nice because when you right click—well, first of all, it's open source—but when you right click, it doesn't say "About Adobe Flash 9" or "10" or whatever.
But anyway, it's pretty cool! I really think that these two things are going to make a major difference, and you all should check this out. I'm going to have a link in the description to a few things using HTML5: Wikipedia page for HTML5 as well as the USB 3.0 Wikipedia page for that.
All that stuff! So these are two new, brand new technologies out that you guys should check out.
So thanks for watching, my kids, and one: subscribe, and goodbye!
