Многие химические реакции, которые происходят у нас в организме, приводят к образованию различных побочных продуктов, требующих утилизации. На макроуровне эм отходы выводятся из организма двумя хорошо известными путями. Однако процесс расщепления и утилизации на биохимическом уровне начинается именно в митохондриях.

Не всех отходов, но определённо некоторых наиболее важных. В первую очередь, таких как аммиак. Аммиак образуется в результате расщепления аминокислот и азотистых оснований, то есть в ходе нормального обмена веществ, особенно белкового обмена.

Стоит отметить, что большая часть амиака в нашем организме вырабатывается бактериями в кишечнике - микробиом. Но об этом мы поговорим потом в каком-нибудь другом видео.

Аммиак - опасный токсин, и чтобы он не успел навредить организму, сперва он преобразуется в нечто менее опасное. Первый шаг преобразования идёт под действием ферментов: в матриксе митохондрий аммиак превращается в цитрулиновому.
