Jane Goodall: The Hope – Trailer | National Geographic

Ladies and gentlemen, you are in for a special treat tonight: Dr. Jane Goodall. I'm a huge fan. I hate how people think of her as being associated with chimpanzees only, but actually, she's much more than that. All these young people looking at her like she was a deity. So much love showered onto me.

It was at a certain point when I thought, well, this is gonna help me do what I do to change the lives of so many people. Over the years, the picture has become bigger and bigger. She goes for the kind of change the world is hungry for. What is Jane Goodall doing working with an oil company? Well, that's what you do if you want to make change; you work with the bad guys.

My job is to go around, inspire people, and get them to take action. People always ask me if I really have hope, but my reasons for hope are the young people. We say slow down; she says no, no, time's running out. I need to speed up. I had to run. I have to run.

I think the cost is very high, but she's driven by her mission. If you want somebody to change their mind, it's no good arguing; you got to reach the heart. Most scientists don't talk about hope. Jane gives that human sight.

She started something, and we do not want it to stop when I'm gone. There are hundreds and hundreds of young people around the world, and already they're taking over. I have a message to give, but I was put on this planet to do it. [Music]
