Вопрос: как же всё-таки создать самый мощный магнит в мире?

К моему удивлению, одних сверхпроводящих магнитов будет маловато. Самым сильным магнитным полем, которого можно добиться с помощью сверхпроводников, считается поле в 20 Тесла. Получается, у сверхпроводящих магнитов есть верхний предел, после которого теряется сверхпроводимость.

Решить эту проблему можно, расположив сверхпроводящий электромагнит вокруг обычного резистивного электромагнита. Области, помеченные синим, зелёным и розовым - это сверхпроводящие внешние обмотки. Они дают 11 с по Тесла.

Внутри размещается резистивный магнит, который добавляет ещё 33 с по Тесла. По уравнению Максвелла поля складываются, и мы получаем 45 Тесла.
