Quantum Programming Tutorial #1: Installing QCL

Hey guys, this is Mac Heads 101, and today I'm going to be showing you how to install QCL on your Mac.

Now, I was hoping that my Homebrew package would get accepted before I made this video. If you're not familiar with what Homebrew is, it's basically a free package manager for console apps on Mac. Um, but it's been taking a really long time for them to get around to accepting it. So, I'll put info for that in the description if you're interested once it's available.

But for now, I'm going to be showing you how to use an installer that I made custom for QCL that will be really easy to use and really also easy to uninstall if you plan on reinstalling QCL with something else later on.

So, you can download my QCL installer by going to our Mac Heads download page. There will also be a link in the description to download the installer.

And I'll just download it and open it up. It'll ask you to type your password because it needs to change system files. It'll basically tell you that QCL is not currently installed, assuming that it's not. You can just tap install, and it'll install it.

Whoops! It'll install it pretty much instantly. You can also uninstall it, and that'll also happen pretty much instantly. You can tell if it's installed because you'll go into Terminal, type QCL, hit enter, and the QCL console will come up. You'll be ready to type QCL commands, which we'll be getting into in the next video.

Um, so I hope that this is pretty helpful for you. I hope it works! If you have any questions or the installer isn't working on your version of Mac OS 10, go ahead and drop the comments on this video, and I'll help you out.

So, thanks for watching Mac Heads 101! Subscribe and goodbye.
