Enable 'root' the Easy Way

Hey guys, this is Mac. Heads on! This is just going to be a video, um, on how to enable root on your Mac, um, with administrator privileges.

Now, we have another video on how to enable root on a Mac, um, but it only works on Leopard. And, um, it works on any machine, but it involves turning off the computer and stuff. If you have an administrator account, um, then you'd be able to do it with this.

First, you want to open up, and if you have the application somewhere else, it's okay, but you want to open up Applications, go down to Utilities, and you want to find something called Directory Utility. Then you want to click the lock to make changes and type your username and your password.

Then you go up to Edit, and then this will normally say "Enable Root User." When you click that, this thing will come up to enter the new password for the root user. You just want to type a password, and you're not hit enter, and that'll set the root password.

Um, so that's how to set the root password when you want to log in as root. And that can't show this to you on Screenflow with sound, so, um, you're not going to hear this. But basically what I'm going to be doing is in the login window, I'm going to, um, select "Other," log in as root, but I'm not going to finish logging. I'll just show you one.

Okay, so that was just a demonstration of what you would do. Um, but yeah, so okay, so that's basically how to, um, how to enable root and how to use the login window to log in as root.

So, thank you for watching my kids in the one. Subscribe and goodbye!
