iLife '09 Review

·Nov 3, 2024

Hey guys, this is Matt. Kids 11, and um, I like 49 and came out. And um, I got it like the day after it came out, and I allowed myself to make a give a couple of days to look at it, play around with it, and now time for the review.

So this is um just close that this is iPhoto '09. As you can see here, I have all my friends and all of my pictures. Okay, so first I'm gonna be showing you places. Um, Places works really well for me because I use my iPhone mostly to take my pictures. They don't have a digital camera; the screen broke on it.

And so here is Places. I really took pictures on my iPhone. As you can see, you can change all the views, but I like this view. So, St. Louis. I'll be showing you that. This is some picture I took on the road. The car in front of me looked like it was going backwards. I thought that was cool.

And actually there, I can zoom in. Thought I could… oh, okay. I have the multi-touch trackpad. For some reason, don't let me zoom it, but as you can see, it says over there that it's in St. Louis. But it says we already know that because of the map. And here's where I actually got my laptop; this is the startup video when I first got my MacBook Pro, as you can see.

And on this, I went to New York, New Jersey, and all that. Also, another new feature here in iPhoto is Facebook and Flickr and MobileMe integration. So, now I'm going to upload a picture to Facebook to see how it works.

Let's see which ones I'll upload. I'll go on my face; it's on the first one. You can set them up in any order you want. I'll upload this of me and my friends. So you click on it, the one you want. You can do more than one if you want; I'm just going to this one. Say upload to Facebook, and say you can say who is going to convey it.

And also before on it comes out, but for the first time, you're going to say your Facebook account password. So right now, you can see how fast it uploads, and once it's done, it'll give you a link. And if I click on that, welcome to scrub. I said, "I'll…" that okay.

This is a link to the actual photo, and it says from the iPhone camera. And the cool thing about this, how cool this is, well most people are going to find it helpful. I have both me and my friends tagged in this, but um, if someone were to add someone, like let's say there were a third person here and I didn't know their name was or something, um, they would get the tags from Facebook, so that's really cool.

Okay, so that's the new iPhoto. The next thing is new iMovie. Um, sorry if this video is kind of long. I had to make it like a whole bunch of times because it got over the limit and 'cause I had problems making it. Like, it wouldn't export and stuff again.

So this is Alma Photo. This is I made a video I made when I was upgrading RAM except for it went wrong. So I didn't upload it to YouTube because um, I have like everything that, you know, sometimes when everything can go wrong, does go wrong. That's what happened in this. Like, I didn't uninstall it properly, but basically I couldn't find the scissors to open the package, and I couldn't, didn't have a screwdriver to open my laptop, so I actually had to go to Sears and buy one, but whatever.

So, um, I quote. Okay, so then if I want to add text or a thing, I can just track the globe and ask me where I can add a video effect, but I can you cancel that too. Let's say start location San Francisco and location Paris; why not? So then we click done, we can play it, and that's what it looks like.

So I can delete that. Another cool thing they added is all these effects and what's this? Oh, these are themes. Um, themes is really good if you're making like a homemade movie. Um, not if it's like a YouTube video; I wouldn't put themes in that, but a homemade movie that you want to show your friends or like our vacation or something. Themes, it automatically finds a good place for the themes, puts the transitions and everything.

And that's what themes is. This is just some of the one little theme effects that you can put wherever. You're not like I put that they're twice as big as two gigabytes. Oh, you actually have to put it in between two. Okay, and there are a whole bunch of new text effects like the Star Wars, or far, far away fact. I can give it any background I want.

If I wanted to make it Star Wars traditional, I would do the stars. So I'll do that. I guess I'll say, hold on, let me take this. Mac Heads 101 is awesome; please subscribe to them. And I'll copy that lead all that, then I'll paste it like a million times, and then if we were to view it this way, it can look like.

And of course, you can put music, so you can download the Star Wars theme, so it looks very professional if you're making a movie and you want to like make something making fun of Star Wars or your own version or something like that.

And there's that's just one of the many effects they added. Also, if I want to view my movie, you can also see my other movie in Coverflow. I have, you can delete some of your movies straight through iMovie, and you can look at another movie straight through here, so that's just something for my dad. I don't want to go in front row. Sorry.

The next thing is the new iWeb. Max I'll show you GarageBand first. So the GarageBand, um, they added a lot of cool stuff, but there's one thing that they main changed. Okay, first off, I'm you have this window when you open it, and it's a much cooler window. And you can make iPhone ringtones much more easily, but Learn to Play is the new, much new thing.

You can get the things that come with it for the piano or for the iPhone piano. I really can't talk today or the guitar, or you can buy some other ones from really famous people like Fall Out Boy or um, or Ben Folds. I don't know who these people are; the only one I know here is Fall Out Boy, and I can preview it.

Patrick, and I'm going to show you how to play my band Fall Out Boy song "I Don't Care." It costs like $4.99 a song, so yeah. And the nav law, okay. Next is iWeb. Wow, and my favorite new thing in iWeb is what did he call widgets where you can embed a YouTube video much more easily, and you can actually scale the YouTube video however big you want, put it wherever you want more easily.

Instead of doing the YouTube embed code, you can just put the URL. Google AdSense can record, take a picture or south straight through iPhoto like this. That didn't turn out so good, so you can retake the picture. Okay, I'm not the best picture taker, but whatever.

You can put a countdown; Apple did this for um, um, Leopard. You can pick the amount. I'm the theme, and yeah, you can actually put on Google Maps if you're going to show like the directions to a restaurant if you're doing this for a restaurant or something like that.

And um, the last new thing is iDVD. So I'll just say create new project, sleeve on my desktop, and you can select the widescreen or the standard. And I actually don't use iDVD that much, but um, you can pick the whole menu for your DVD, pick a whole bunch of themes and yeah.

So I really would recommend upgrading to iPhoto '09 for my life await, especially because most people had iMovie a weight would downgrade to iMovie HD. Now I can just use iMovie '09 because they add everything that everyone worried.

So I hope you liked this review. I thank you for watching, and please subscribe. Have a nice day! Bye!
