15 Rules To Win At Life (Part 1)
Life is a complicated game filled with moving pieces, changing environments, changing rules, and unfortunately, it doesn't come with a rule book. So, we asked ourselves, what would be the common traits and patterns shared by hundreds of people who we believe are winning at life? Turns out, there are several actions or rules that guide their behaviors. In this video, we're going to share them with you. Without these, you're unlikely to win the game of life. So, with that said, let's take a look at these 15 rules to win at life.
Welcome to Alux, the place where future billionaires come to get inspired.
Number one: Have a vision for your life. Because you can't achieve the life of your dreams if you never dream about it. The first thing you need to do in order to win at the game of life is to establish for yourself what winning even is. Without a proper vision of what life should be, you have no idea of what you're supposed to achieve and when you've made it.
Many people believe they know the general idea of what they want from life, but so very few take the time to make it clear. So here are a couple of questions to help you establish a vision for your life: Where are you? What is your environment like in this dream life? How are you? Who are you as a person? What kind of memories do you have? How healthy are you? How do you feel alive? Who are you surrounded by? What kind of people do you have around you? Do you have someone special who you share your success with? What do you do for a living? How do you spend your time?
These are just a few of the core questions you should ask yourself in order to determine the vision for what you want your dream life to be. Once you have this figured out, at least you now know what you're shooting for, and then it's just time to make it a reality.
Number two: Know who you are and what you stand for. The more you know about who you are, the less control the world has over you. Making it and losing it yourself in the process sounds like a pretty bad deal to us. What's the point of achieving financial success if you can't sleep well at night, see your loved ones, or be surrounded by superficiality all the time?
If you want to win at life, you should know who you are, what your values are, and what you stand for as an individual. These are clear lines defined by someone who understands the importance of living a fine life, one without regret. Small actions can have regrets that last a lifetime, so be sure to give this proper thought.
Number three: Comparing only to your yesterday self. Who cares if others are winning or losing if you're standing on the sidelines? We share the world with almost 8 billion people, and each one of us has our own story to live. You are responsible for yourself, for your growth, and the way you go through your life. Stop comparing yourself to others and start comparing yourself with your past self. If your focus is on your growth, at some point, you'll find yourself a lot happier.
You'll realize that everyone is fighting a struggle of their own with their own personal expectations of what their life should be like. It's okay to find people that inspire you, people you can learn from, but don't compare the first chapter of your book with the last chapter from somebody else's.
Number four: Set clear and empowering goals. There's no elevator to success; you have to take the stairs, and every goal you hit is a new step. Goals are like milestones or like interesting quests you have to go on in your life. Achieving your goal is like leveling up and improving your own stats. Smart goals are precisely defined and make the journey a lot more interesting.
So find goals that inspire you, which reside at the edge of your comfort zone because these will empower you most and help you move that needle forward.
Number five: Discipline your mind and actions. Many people shrug at the thought of having to be disciplined, but here's the reality: the more disciplined you become, the easier your life gets. Very few people master discipline, and this happens because it's a hard thing to do, not because of its complexity, but because of the commitment.
Only those who really want it put in the time to acquire discipline as a tool in their portfolio. Mastering discipline is probably the most valuable thing you can do if you want to win at life. Afterward, it's just a matter of time until whatever goal one sets becomes a reality. If you've always struggled with this, we got your back.

Number six: All growth happens outside of your comfort zone. The sooner you step away from your comfort zone, you'll realize it really wasn't all that comfortable to begin with. Growth comes from trying new things; it comes from failure, from success, and it comes from uncomfortable conversations. If you're just starting out, the best way to learn more about yourself and the world is by throwing yourself into it.
How sad would it be to live your life in a small bubble without getting to lean into who you really are, to find out there are millions of other things you find fascinating? Once you leave your comfort zone, you'll start seeing new dots that can be connected, dots that weren't even visible to you before.
We want you to think hard about the following statement: If things don't happen for you, it's because you're in a place where things just don't happen. And that place, my friend, is your comfort zone.
Number seven: You only need to get it right once. It doesn't matter how many times you fail because at the end of the day, a single win could last you a lifetime. Okay, many good ideas can slowly push you forward, but a single great idea can make you rich or get you the life you're dreaming about.
The best thing is ideas are totally free. It's time to come up with interesting concepts that could potentially change your life. Failure is irrelevant as long as you can try and try again. If you're serious about this, it becomes more like a numbers game, and it's all a matter of time before one of them works out.
Number eight: Be a traveler, not a tourist. The world is meant to be discovered, not just checked off a list. This is one of our favorite rules in life, and whenever we do something exciting, we repeat it to ourselves. There's a dramatic difference between being a traveler and being a tourist.
Tourism is a product that's being sold to you where you are, and you're not in control of that experience, so you're not in control of your life. Travel is when you venture out into the unknown and take the world in its new format. Don't mistake travel for simply going to a different place because it is deeper than that. Look at different parts of your life and see if you're a traveler or a tourist.
You'll be shocked when you realize just how much of your life is currently being put into specific lanes by somebody else.
Number nine: Be grateful for what you have but thirsty for more. Gratitude makes sense of the past, brings peace for today, and creates a vision for tomorrow. There's nothing wrong with wanting more for yourself. We're meant to exceed our condition, to explore, and to evolve.
You need gratitude to ground yourself, to understand how far you've come, but you also need an appetite for life to understand how far you still have to go.
Number ten: Reading books can be your competitive advantage. A person who reads lives hundreds of lives, but those who don't live only one. Books are still heavily underrated because most people don't understand what real value lies in them. They look at books as forms of entertainment instead of seeing books for what they really are: literal knowledge vaults.
Someone's life experiences, mistakes, failures, successes—everything someone has learned in 50 to 60 years can be downloaded into your brain in just a couple of days' time. That's amazing.
Number eleven: Listen much more than you speak. Nobody learned anything by hearing themselves speak. If you want to win at the game of life, it's time for you to focus on real growth, the type that comes from actively paying attention to the world around you.
It's time you become a sponge of knowledge and quality information. There isn't one person around you that you can't learn something from, and the brain has its weird problem where it doesn't allow information to go in as you're talking. So shut up and pay attention!
Okay, there's a good reason you've got two ears and only a single mouth.
Number twelve: Forgive but don't forget. Those who don't forgive are prisoners to their own hatred, and those who forget? Well, they're poised to repeat the same mistakes. If there's a common theme throughout this video, it's that of growth from all perspectives.
Forgiveness isn't about making peace with someone—no, not really. It's about you making peace with yourself and allowing yourself to move forward. The dangerous part is that events in life have some sort of cyclical nature, which means they have a tendency to repeat themselves.
The forgive but don't forget rule sounds kind of aggressive, but it's more of a defense mechanism that will protect you as you evolve into a different person, a person who isn't going to be hurt by the same you were hit with in the past.
Number thirteen: Never quit the game. You might lose battles; you might struggle, but the game is lost only when you give up. The only moment a game is over is when you completely throw in the towel. In order to win at the game of life, you need to be persistent. It’s not going to happen overnight.
Okay, you might need to make changes; you'll need to pivot, innovate, rewrite to make sure that you get it. The challenge is maintaining this level of adaptability long enough until you get it. You might quit a particular challenge, but never ever quit the main goal, because without it, you'll have to face a life deprived of the very thing that makes life worth living. If times get hard, remember to rest, not give up.
Number fourteen: Respect others playing the game. Everyone is the centerpiece of their own story, with their own struggles and hardships, so show them the respect you show yourself. Respect, in fact, is one of those things where people understand its value and importance too late in life.
There's a certain elegance in going through life as a respectful individual, and you'll find that by living that way, the world will show you respect toward you as well. It's a trade-off that you make with the world, and we need to see more of it. Okay, understand everyone is trying to play their own version of the game—a version about which you know nothing about. So treat the janitor with the same respect you treat the CEO.
Number fifteen: Do not play it safe. Only those who risk going too far can find out how far they can really go. Hey, you get one life to live, so why not make it epic? At some point in your journey, you'll realize that playing it safe will not get you to the promised land you dreamed of.
Be bold about your life; take calculated risks where the rewards are worth it. There's no other way of getting it without pushing your chances, and if you fail, who cares? Okay, you can try again and again and again if you have to, however many times it takes. The last thing you'd want is to be on your deathbed filled with regrets of a life you haven't lived.
