В 1899 году сюда пришёл устраиваться на работу Белевский юноша двадцатилетний по имени Иосиф. Иосиф учился в ликой семинарии, изучал религиоведение, собирался стать священником. Но надо сказать, что он был довольно оппозиционно настроенный молодой человек.

Он участвовал в экстремистских чатах, участвовал в организации несанкционированного митинга, проявлял некоторый экстремизм и даже, может быть, был склонен к терроризму. Некоторые считали так, поэтому из семинарии его исключили в 1899 году.

Поскольку надо было как-то зарабатывать на хлеб, он пришёл устраиваться в Тифлису геофизической обсерватории и был принят сюда на должность вычислителя наблюдателя.
