Crowdfunding campaign: Give Me Your Ball

Why don't we start by telling? By introducing. Why don't we start by having? Let's start. My name is Thomas K.

A couple of years ago, I made the film "George Ought to Help." Last year, with the help of crowdfunding, I made the film "Edgar the Exploiter." Right now, I'm looking to get your help making a third film with the working title "Give Me Your Ball." I've been really encouraged by how well the first two films have been received. Together, right now, they have more than 100,000 views worldwide. They've been translated to 13 different languages, and I'm convinced that they're working really well to stimulate the kind of discussion that I think is important.

"Give Me Your Ball" will be a kind of appendix to "George." Art to help! Two of the most common complaints about George were: isn't it an exaggeration to say that taxation involves threats of force? And the second one was: isn't it the case that we all, in fact, agree to taxation as part of the social contract? "Give Me Your Ball" will try to address both of these concerns by taking a closer look at taxation.

Crowdfunding "Edgar" was a lot of fun. I really appreciated that it allowed people to feel very connected to the project, so I really want to replicate that. Next to that, of course, the funding will buy me a period of time where I can afford to work focusly on the animation, and that will enable me to publish it faster. The film will be published in the first half of 2013. The closer I get to the target, the sooner I can have it online.

Why do you do this? What? Um, what? Why do you care? I started making these animations because I believed that there wasn't anything out there that did quite the same thing as I wanted to. The idea is to take the core ideas of libertarian thought and package them in a very gentle and accessible way.

Apart from the good feeling you'll get from having helped create the animation by donating, you'll also receive one of a series of rewards. There are t-shirts, pin badges, window stickers, and a bunch of other things. You can see the full list in the sidebar. If you have friends or family who you think would be interested in this campaign, please let them know about it. Publish it on Facebook, on your blog, on Twitter. Any help is very much appreciated.
