Meth Hidden in a Spare Tire | To Catch A Smuggler
[suspenseful music] [dog panting] [power tool whirring]
Oh yeah, it's a pretty big load.
Yeah.
OFFICER ON RADIO 1: [inaudible]
OFFICER ON RADIO 2: Copy, thank you.
This is a pretty significant load, right here.
Roll it over this way.
Yeah, they're a little crunchy so most likely that's meth. The majority of it. It used to be marijuana. Meth has taken over. We don't see marijuana anywhere. And we get a little bit of coke, little bit of heroin mixed in there. It's going to be a lot.
Before, in the past, they used to put them in all the tires. Now they just-- to get something across real quick, make it real easy. But just throw it in a spare tire and try to get it across.
From here, we're going to be testing it to see what it is.
These are the packages that were accidentally cut as we were opening the tire.
Look like meth?
It was positive for meth. That's what it is, methamphetamine. The individual that was smuggling it across most likely doesn't know what they had in the vehicle-- how much, or what it was. They probably get paid $300 to $500 or less to bring the drugs across, and they don't even know what they bring. For this seizure, we have 69 packages of methamphetamine. 34.6 kilos. It's important that we get these loads because they could cross these every day. And this adds up-- every day, every day, every day. And it's not just going to be one driver. Could be 10, 15 per day. So good for us we got this and took it off the streets.
