Krystle Wright Climbs to Capture a Perfect Photo in Moab | Photographer | National Geographic
Today is definitely the day for us to nail this project. We're all here on a time-sensitive schedule. Thankfully, we found the perfect climb. Angela's never climbed Seventh Serpent before, but she's definitely a phenomenal climber. You can throw Angela into almost any situation and she knows what to do.
There was a lot less pressure on the other climb. I had already done Little Miss Kitty, so it felt kind of, like, not a big deal to get on it. Okay. This one's a little more of a question mark. Krystle's vision is to photograph this really beautiful zigzag portion of the climb, and then she shoots from across the canyon.
Oi, Angela. What is it? So, at the top, there's like a little podge. Mm-hmm. And that'll basically be the top for me of lighting. Yeah, like at the anchor you'll see there's just, like, a bunch of loose blocks. You'll wanna put your foot on 'em, but you can't. Yeah. So, I was able to back up your anchor. Oh, that's good. Yeah, I just need a minute.
5:49. Yeah, you should have time. Should. Two and a half hours before shooting. Alright, and then just hold pink, I'm gonna pull myself in. Yep. Okay, Krystle. I'm gonna wait for yours to man. Yeah, wait for me. I'm taking too long, but I am OCD. If you're gonna go to all this effort, there's no point in half assing it at the last hurdle.
Much more involved than I was expecting. Let's have a quick look. Light her up. Alright. What do you think? Wow. I think I got my balance. You ready? I'm ready. Alright. Climb it. I'll put it in a piece and I'll get rid of that foot. Alright, take. Yep. We're ready when you are. Alright, I'm on lead. Nice. Oh, I'm struggling.
We just think of that sequence. Man, the light is just— Why not? What do we got for time? 7:23. Oh, gosh. I need to get in position.
