This is Charlie Griffin, captain of Reels of Fortune. We're going to show you the, uh, the right way of rigging up your Breakaway so that you, uh, don't break your stick and you're ready to catch some fish and get your stick back out.

You have two snaps. This line right here, when your Breakaway comes, you need this so that you don't lose your stick line every time. In other words, when this breaks, you want this to come back to your block so you don't lose, so this doesn't wrap all around your antennas, outriggers, or so forth, depending on how big of a stick you have and what size fish you're fishing for.

If this is too strong and doesn't break away, then a lot of times you'll rip the fish out of the water. You'll, uh, you’ll lose the fish. So we want this to be extremely strong so that it hooks the fish, but having said that, as soon as the fish is on, we want it to break. A lot of times in the summer, we'll use 200.

Now the first snap goes on here. You got to lock it, and then the second snap goes on the main line itself, like so. Very important not to get that wrong, because what happens is when that Breakaway breaks, you need that swivel to come back here so your line doesn't wrap all around. If you make a mistake and do that backwards, it will not break away, and you'll break your stick.

This is how you retrieve your what you do is you hold it comes to you, you unsnap it, and then you secure this. You can secure this anywhere on your boat. We have a place over here just for our stick line.

This is Charlie Griffin from Reels of Fortune. Hope that helps you out.
